My car (new Jan 2017) has no national emblem or logo at all. I imagine all new plates will likely have no emblem.
They've been optional since 2001... But if you don't have 'em, you'll need a GB sticker when you travel to other EU countries.http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2001/561/regula...
The Regs were amended in 2009 to make it also legal to display the following
(a)an image of the Union flag;
(b)an image of the Cross of Saint George, as depicted on the flag of England;
(c)an image of the Cross of Saint Andrew (the Saltire), as depicted on the flag of Scotland;
(d)an image of the Red Dragon of Wales, as depicted on the flag of Wales;
together with specific arrangements of letters to go with each emblem
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2009/811/regula...
However such plates still require the additional display of the GB international identifier when travelling outside the UK.

If the OP had just used a wooden ruler to measure the plate, would we still be having the debate about legal/illegal ?
Exactly!And for those slagging off the OP for his "elitist vanity plate" can I remind you of his post on PAGE 1,
"......... it was passed to me just before my dad passed away, on the condition that I kept it whilst he was alive, held a lot of sentimental value to him and myself and he died in an accident before it went on my car......."
Not sure why any of that emotive stuff pardons a st plate, but each to their goat, innit?

Not guilty with the pipe next door, it was the owner previous to the previous owner that fitted an en suite. I didn't get the boiler swap for the current owner either as I don't offer finance
So they've put foul water into a surface water drain ... report them to your friendly police officer RichTBiscuit said:
Nice Work OP! glad it's sorted.
I honestly can't believe the amount of absolute bellers on this thread.
The guy has a car and a plate you dont like......... so what?
Suck it up and try and have a little respect for people who dont share your EXACT opinion of life.

It's PH, it's kind of expected, although unwanted with a topping of I don't give a...plus, it's not everyone and some good information has been well received.
Nice garage btw, I wish I could have swapped a few of my old ones for yours. my full list isn't in mine but i bet you have had some others too
That wouldn't happen in Alderley Edge or Wilmslow as most performance cars seem to drive around without a front number plate and seemingley get away with it in broad daylight? It'd be like shooting fish in a barrel if you spend an hour nay day on enforcement.
I'm not fussed too much about spacing of legal fonts as they can still be read with ease. Having no number plate is a different matter.

Surely you aren't being serious - we'll end up in a Police State if everyone just sucks it up.
I took them on, and lost. I will never make that mistake again.If the police say I have committed an offence, then I have. They have already proved that’s the case by fabricating an offence and getting the court to back them up and convict me.
I don’t argue with them these days, they can do what they like. I’m not risking it. If the OP wants to risk becoming a permanent target for police attention that’s up to him. To my mind it’s cheaper and safer to just pay the FP, as unjust as it seems. I would if it were me.

It was basically Knutsford, so it does happen. I'm not fussed too much about spacing of legal fonts as they can still be read with ease. Having no number plate is a different matter.

In the mind of someone objective and rational your advice is terrible.
Thankfully the OP didn't take it.

To summarise: Plod in question was a knob. Some of the legal types on here were knobs. Some of those who recommended just paying up were knobs. But one person who really should know better was a monumental knob and can be ignored from now on.
his panties have been tight as fk since June 16 - we'll just have to continue to make allowances RA500 said:
That estate is on a combined drain, so not breaking any rules. Built in the early 50's
Just because it was built early 50's it may not be a combined sewerage system.May have been Sec24 but that was all changed in 2011 with the new regulations.
Still a a crap but of plumbing though.
