It's not initials.
It is one of the first registration marks ever registered in Manchester. My dad grew up on a council estate in Stretford and used to see a RR go past with the plate on as a child. with a lot of hard work, he did well for himself in the motor trade and the car came up for sale and he bought it and kept the reg.
Never justify your reasons to the knuckle draggers & throbbers (sometimes both) on here, your reasons are your own, glad it has all worked out for you, and good to see the majority of peope on thread being helpful & courteous, stuff there that the knuckle dragger (sic) should bear in mind.It is one of the first registration marks ever registered in Manchester. Not sure why BV et al dislike personal plates so much, I've had one for 52 years (Issued 1947) and I think they look great with no date letter and initials first/numbers second
So good on you OP
Breadvan appears to be the self-appointed number plate style sheriff. So good on you OP
I think the plate is good - sentimental reasons for the op and non-dating plate on an older car.
Nothing wrong with that in my book.
And I've got a private plate - currently on retention. It's worth an awful lot more than I paid for it.
It's a nice reason for the OP to have the plate and keep it the original size.
I think Breadvan72 may've referenced his father and his job(s) in the motor industry in relation to his BL stuff, particularly his SD1. The thread isn't about Breadvan72.
Another case of those that are paid to uphold the law not knowing the law.
Happy new year Red 4. OP thanks for the thread, I've learnt stuff and it's made me think.

I beat a parking racket (twice) and a bus lane fine 'cos the signage didn't conform to The Regulations.I am a criminal mastermind
I've also had a couple of "interesting" conversations with police officers at the side of the road. (They were on duty - I wasn't).
If they're gonna try to fine you they have to play by the rules.

Well done OP right result. Been following the thread and been amazed at the level of vitriol and rudeness aimed in your direction. Little bit of jealousy methinks.

If that's a UK plate, I think RA500 knows a policeman who would like a chat. If it's not a UK plate, where is your national identifier?Nice plate, nice car, silly plod.

Either way, make sure that you exit the car using the passenger door furthest from the carriageway - hard shoulders are dangerous places
"leave the vehicle by the left-hand door and ensure your passengers do the same" - extract from Rule 275 of the Highway Code.

Its a Manx plate, different rules. I'm guessing that the poster is in the IOM so doesn't need a MAN stickerEither way, make sure that you exit the car using the passenger door furthest from the carriageway - hard shoulders are dangerous places

The hanging basket appears to be in need of some attention though.

Perhaps a 'PH numberplate police' tee shirt design is needed?Running the gauntlet of tape measure wielding PH members queuing up to dob us in to the Feds.

I don't know if having ruler graduations on the conrods would work, but a ruler's edge graduation could be used in several interesting and colourful ways on a tee shirt design.
'PH 18' 'Where's your national identifier?'

I take it you didn't notice the many other posts that mentioned this?
Apologies, no. I was reading the thread from the start and just quoted that one when i got to it as I was perplexed as to why someone would choose to put our flag on their car upside down! It wouldn’t have been great even if the flag was the right way up, but upside down must have given some people a right old chuckle!
