Using this device for some peace of mind when putting my foot down every now and again is well worth £300 if it works as they claim.
It doesn't work as they claim. Trust me.

The police forces are meant to be moving to 4g this year and ditching Tetra but it's not going to plan atm as 4g is so unreliable in general when in motion outside of urban areas so I doubt it will happen.
The Emergency Services Network seems to be going ahead, despite delays and technical issues and EE's 4G coverage in rural areas is being greatly extended to ensure constant communication so shouldn't be an issue. There's no alternative anyway - Airwave/Tetra is well past its sell-by date.

I've got a blueye and it's invaluable on rural roads, it's not that useful in urban areas due to reflections off buildings and other types of emergency vehicles.

It's paid for itself back multiple times within the past few years (mainly entrapment prevention) and isn't much money in the scheme of things (when you compare it to dealer fit options).

Make sure when it's being fitted is to use the installer firmware and find the best position in the car as it's quite sensitive to emi, I found an external dipole antenna improved the accuracy quite a bit.

It is definitely happening, lots of testing already started.
I hear the small delays are due to peripheral areas.
But from next year ESN will start replacing Airwave

We're dropping Tetra soon (not soon enough....it's st) and moving over to 4G devices that are a radio and smart phone all in one.

What is it they say about a fool and his money?......

Your money would be better spent on a dictionary.

Throw in some tin-foil blankets in case the helicopter is out and about and you're onto a winner.

Do they have to be transmitting for it to detect anything?

Poor analogy, exceeding speed limits is 99.99999999% or thereabouts a victimless crime, and has no intended victim either.

You think TETRA detectors are just used by speeders ?

99% of motorists speed at some point.

99.99% of motorists don't have or feel the need for a detector.

If anyone ever uses that in court as a defence be sure to let us know what the magistrate thinks of it.

The point is you can't pick and choose.

If that defence were to be used in court then it would still be the truth.

The magistrates attitude to that is driven by policy and propaganda and what appears to me to be the results of a relatively successful brainwashing campaign
