Hi all,

I got pulled the other day. Had a driver behind me up my backside and so did a few bursts of the throttle in a 30mph zone to open the gap. Road was clear with no pedestrians. Come to a set of lights on red and had a copper knock on my window and told me to pull over. There was 2 plain clothes coppers in a normal standard vehicle (Corsa). I didn’t see them but they must of been behind the car that was behind me.

They pulled the both of us. The officer asked me what speed I was doing and I genuinely didn’t know but I knew I was well over but not over a long distance. Tried to accuse me of racing which I told him I wasn’t but threatened me with court if I wanted to argue the toss.

Asked for my licence and checked myself and my vehicle details. Got off lucky as no further action was taken and got a good telling off and also warned about the high court car cruising injunction which is in place around my area.

I admit I was in the wrong and reacted to the situation in the wrong way but I’ve learnt my lesson and that’s the end of it.

But I was just wondering if there would be a record of me being stopped on the police systems now? Or possible some kind of marker on me or the car? If so how long are they on there for?

I’ve been driving for over 10 years and that’s the first time I’ve been stopped and have never had a speeding ticket.

Thanks.

Great contribution with the YouTube video that doesn't answer the OP's questions (and gets the latter mention of 'belief' incorrect).

If the police checked you on the Police National Computer there'll be a record of the vehicle check in terms of creating a data audit. That doesn't have any impact on future driving / stops.

I can't see any reason why a marker would be placed on your vehicle. The officers didn't mention anything about an S.59 warning, I assume.

A previous PNC check wont be recorded on the record of the person or vehicle being checked. It must be subject of a separate transaction enquiry check. The PNC trail lasts for 11 months.

There won't be a PNC marker.

There might be a local intel report re; manner of driving, etc.

If you want to know what info the police have on you, you can do a subject access request.

Info is sometimes withheld (prevention of crime, etc) and there's usually a charge of about a tenner.

Google the name of the force you were stopped by, followed by "Subject Access Request".

Here is more info;

That’s good to know thanks. Is there a set time they keep local intel for?

Honest answer - I don't know if there is a set time limit.

It will depend what the intel is - the crap gets filtered/ deleted after about 6 months (I think).

Same happened to me and was going to ask

I was pulled over recently for alleged excess speed and was told that they put a marker on me/my car so if I’m pulled over again they’d be less lenient. Wasn’t sure if it was a thing or not.

pretty sure my plate must have been ran a few times whilst been followed by police.

regulary go out into town, dont drink and drive back home at 2am etc. had police follow me a couple of times and was quite surprised i wasnt pulled.

whereas i dont agree with been pulled for no reason - this isnt statsi germany - i actualy wldnt have minded as planty of idiots do drink and drive.

last time it happened i was driving town to town on a 5 mile stretch of 30mph, police turned and follwed me as i left the drinking town, on ce on the straight and been save to do so i was waiting for the lights. steady 30mph, still no lights..........then the police over take me and drive off! still no lights!
