Clearly the shops you frequent have massive parking spaces as all the ones I've ever been to would barely allow you to get out of the car nevermind wheel a trolley down the side to access the boot.
I find it pointless to reverse in, in those circumstances in an E Class estate TwigtheWonderkid said:
And his wife's car was involved in an incident. There doesn't have to be contact for a car to be involved in an incident.
This.....About 15 years ago I was driving along a B road minding my own business, obeying the speed limit.
Morning rush hour, car waiting to turn right in the minor road to my left.
I see him look towards me.
I see him look the other way.
I don't see him look back at me, so start to brake a little.
As I am about 6 feet from him, he pulls out to turn right, so across me.
Because I was sort of anticipating the collision, I managed to dive left and miss hitting him, but I went head on into the kerb on the far side of the minor road and did £1000 of damage to my car.
I successfully claimed off his insurance for my damage.
