A few camera vans and unmarked cars to slow them down would be fantastic.
And what planet do you live on? The country is infested with them.
Orlly?. The last time I got a fine for speeding (camera van) was about 2006 in South Wales. I have driven approximately quarter of a million miles across the entire country including London since then without a single one. This could be down to me not driving/riding like a complete spaz, but I rarely see traffic police anywhere and never feel even slightly under scrutiny. Last time I even got pulled over was five or six years ago and that was because the TO thought my bike exhaust was too loud (which legally speaking was probably right). And what planet do you live on? The country is infested with them.
Not sure where you live, but have you tried slowing down a bit or being more observant?

In my 2 years of driving in the UK, I've seen exactly 3 camera vans, 2 of those were during the 2016 Farnborough air show. Big white Transit vans parked on the median strip with the back windows (rear windows... on Transit) pointing into traffic... I wonder what those vans are for.
Speed cameras are just as rare and obvious, They're usually in places where it's difficult to exceed the speed limit anyway (at least around where I live) and bright Health and Safety yellow.
I think Jim hasn't lived anywhere else and probably spends too much time reading the Sun.
Lets compare this to Australia where cops hide Multanova cameras behind bushes to trap unwary drivers, use hand held radar guns (again, often behind cover) and have practicallly no leeway over the speed limit (WA is an unofficial 3 KPH, NSW is an official 0). Same with being pulled over, In Perth, I was pulled over every 6 or so weeks, mostly for a random Breatho (sometimes for a power-tripping cop to give me a hard time about my 200sx). Number of times in the last 2 years I've been pulled over in the UK, 0.
Go live in Oz for a while, it wont take long for you to see the UK as a motoring paradise (and not just for the relatively lax speed enforcement).
Plenty of vans (or the same few) where I live.
One stretch of motorway leading to a bridge near me, it is easy to cause chaos. Just brake for a second or two and the whole motorway slows to 60 or so until they see the bridge in question, no van and everyone speeds up.
Anyhoo. What was the fella jailed for? Forget now.
Edit. S Wales BTW.

Ultimately, for being a complete bell end. One stretch of motorway leading to a bridge near me, it is easy to cause chaos. Just brake for a second or two and the whole motorway slows to 60 or so until they see the bridge in question, no van and everyone speeds up.

Edit: that explains it. Wales seems the worst part of the UK for traffic cameras. North Wales in particular.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
