Really quite shocking video - amazing that no one was injured

https://www.sussex.police.uk/news/video-the-journe...

(driver got 24 month ban, she was also sentenced to a 12-month community order, requiring her to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge)

They sure she was drunk?

A couple of my mates have proven themselves capable of driving exactly that badly whilst completely sober.

On a more serious note, it's pretty amazing that of all the chances she had to have a major accident she managed to pick the one car with (presumably) no one in it.

Where's Plod when you need them? If she hadn't crashed, she'd have probably made it home.

Those streetworks gangs need a good talking to as well.

I thought the article was going to say she was 5 times over, or something like that!

For an average woman 3 times the limit might be, what, 3 large glasses of wine?

She was utterly wkered!

She is just extremely lucky she didn't wipe anyone out on the pavements or she'd be serving a long sentence. Ridiculous.

Properly Scary!! Nearly stacks it a couple of times! Makes you wonder how many are on the road at any time?

Years ago, it was almost accepted, I know of a now retired Chief of Police, or whatever they were called in the 80's, who would regularly drive home after 5 - 6 large whiskeys. Never had a prang, rural area, nice houses off the beaten track etc. so all OK at the time. IMO Not OK but would you have argued with a CoP?

Now, Thankfully, most people will report it. Reported it once after watching a van driver hit the kerb then swing across into the oncoming lane, twice! The BiB called me after to confirm he'd been nicked so result, he's off the road.

Probably a lot more than that. Being old enough to remember the campaigns in the 80s the limit was advertised at around 5 units of alcohol (2.5 pints of ordinary 4% beer in old money) and I dont suppose they were that far off to be honest - if you are at the limit you have drunk a lot already in driving terms, 3 times the limit you've drunk a proper skinful. Scary scary driving.

Someone I know parks close to the pub around the corner from it off the main road, and drives home up a hill about 500 yards. He could park in the pub car park turn onto the main road and then up the hill, but it seems parking on the side road even though you have a walk to the car is preferable.

I just can’t fathom the justice system in this country. She gets a slap on the wrist for what is absolutely mental, dangerous driving. She could have wiped out loads of times.

She was totally and utterly wasted based on that driving! She should be doing time.

Why? She comitted the offence of drunk driving and failing to stop. Not usually an offence that puts you in prison. The fact you have seen her driving doesn't make the offence different, just your perspective. Other people done for the same offence are most likely quite often the same or worse, just it isn't filmed.

The justice system works as intended. 2 years ban, and a lot of community service isn't a slap on the wrist. Her career will be finished too.
