Also it’s worth £9.8k every day of the week +++
You've dropped your valuation somewhat WB.
Very much so - the Mrs would go bananas if I bought a heap like that for £9.8k
So even you would now concede after your initial enthusiasm it's not worth restoring from a financial perspective. You really need it to be a labour of love.

Not a bad idea, OP contact Edd China, his new show is dedicated to fixing up projects. Assuming there will be a second episode that is. I bet Mike Brewer is keeping a close eye hoping the whole project fails, while getting a happy ending massage from that American mechanic twink
I'm assuming you mean Ant Anstead who's actually English?

Will you be taking this lesson forward, and perhaps holding back next time before you spout off utter st about something you quite obviously know nothing about?

I think that once it becomes very clear that the original scammer is not going to give him a refund, the OPs best bet is an honest ad (honest for the benefit of his own conscience) and then hope that some wrong headed dreamer like Welshbeef but better funded picks it up. Retro Rides is absolutely full to bursting with these people.

I'd consider putting in the minimum possible effort and expense to get it running and able to drag itself onto a flatbed under power, that's as good as MOTd and driveable to some people and could easily stick a grand on the asking.

It can then spend the rest of time rotting away while aforementioned dreamer occasionally undertakes piddling tasks like changing the steering wheel or painting the brake calipers and updates his thread. After a year or two he'll say that another potential project has taken priority and he'll shift it on to the next dreamer.

This has been the fate of once desirable cars that are utterly fked beyond any economic repair forever, now fuelled by stories of the one bloke that did this with an E-Type and after having it rot away for 45 years managed to sell the VIN plate for £50k. Yes maybe he netted a lower rate of return than if he'd just saved his cash with the Halifax, but this also provided endless hours of boring stories about the upgrades and improvements he's going to make to his rotting shell of a car.

I'd be very surprised if with patience and a little work on the car you couldn't punt this on for £5k, particularly if it can be seen running and moving.

Whatever you do, OP, don't become that wrongheaded dreamer and take this on as a project. The only useful experience anyone can get from this "project" is how to break a car for parts and sell them on eBay.

Since it is from Ireland, (Eire) do you need to pay import VAT on it? To register it here, it needs an MOT, (good luck wiht that!), but I think you'll need a customs form declaration and proof that all import liabilities have been paid. If it was from Isle of Man or Jersey etc, you still need MOT but no liabilities to pay, but from Eire, I think there will be?

Haven't read the whole thread but this sounds like a classic SNAD (Significantly Not As Described) dispute.

Assuming OP hasn't delayed too long, eBay will sort it. It may take some time though, you just have to be patient. And try not to get too frustrated.

Payment would have been better via PayPal though, then they really get interested.

1)I think you'll find I DID call it Ireland, (capital I btw).
2) "even the irish" (sp)...…….well most of the people on this thread are not Irish, so that's irrelevant.
3) Splash.
