Should motorcycle dealers within 100 miles of London be forced to fit new motorcycles with trackers so the police, or other partner organisations, can find them should they be stolen?
No point, even when they've got trackers the police still won't/can't do anything.
And if you read the thread about the tracker it wasn't about not wanting to do anything. It was explained time and time again that they need to follow the correct legal process.

A point seemingly ignored repeatedly on this forum.
Yes I know, and that is why, if you read my post you would see I said won't/can't do anything.

I am well aware the police can't just go charging around doing what they want to (although I do feel very sorry for the bike owner). I was just pointing out that a tracker does not neccesarily assist in finding a bike should it be stolen.

I was also being slightly tongue in cheek as I assume the original post I was replying to wasn't actually being serious.
My apologies.

With regard to your last paragraph, looking at who you were replying to I would wager he/she was being entirely serious based on previous performances.

This hapless camper picked up a brand new van...... and was given a £200 fine for no 'no-smoking' sticker.

Maybe the van dealer could put 'no-smoking' stickers in the accessory catalogue?

Perhaps you missed that it wasn't the dealer he was collecting it from, but the signwriters who'd just liveried the outside...?

And the van in the pic was "brand new" a long, LOOOOONG while ago.

When I got my new one, I knew I needed a GB marker on the Reg plate as I intended to go abroad with it. Being a responsible adult I asked the dealer to ensure that they fitted a plate with a GB marker (they didn't as a matter of course on new plates).

<Cool story.>
There’s no requirement to have ‘a GB marker on the Reg plate’ to go abroad with it’.

I have been ‘abroad’ several times in a car with no GB marker on the number plate.

You're supposed to have a GB marker on the vehicle. It just makes sense to have it on the plate rather than affix it elsewhere. The dealer wouldn't have done either as a matter of course unless I asked for it.

Wrong.

Ignorance of the law is not a defence, ignorance of fact is.

Not really relevant to the main point of the thread but you weren't telling the whole truth.

It's absolutely correct actually and your post makes no sense.

It's also entirely relevant to the poster I was replying to.

In plain English:

Ignorance can be a defence in law, contrary to your statement. Ignorance of the law is not a defence. Ignorance of fact is a defence.

I cannot make this any plainer. I hope you can understand it.

A good ol' fashioned GB sticker will do instead, of course.

They wouldn't fit that as a matter of course either, I'd still have to ask them, which was the point I was making.
That & I don't want the good ol' fashioned GB sticker, I wanted it on the plate (which again I had to ask for).
