idea Go to these events in an ice cream van idea.
Good thinking no one ever got parking ticket in an ice cream van! Rock up and events and say you have been booked and get free entry, priority parking. Onboard cold drinks, winner winner chicken dinner.

No pesky haldex to worry about (9/10 Golf R Driver seem to have an issue) if its not been stolen and abused or you haven't been held at knife point on a trip to Birmingham for your Golf R, its been towed as they thought it had celeb parking rights.

Not sure why everyone is moaning about how important I think I am blah blah blah, Where i parked my car was not obstructing anything, there were no cars within 50 yards. I was being left for the event proper which started on the saturday. when i went on Saturday it was nearly as deserted except for a few 'owners Club' cars parked some distance away.

My car park pass was a home made affair printed by the organisers on a plain green page of A4 coloured paper. It simply had my reg no, company name and phone number on it. There were no T&C's at all.

Neither were ant T&C's relevant to parking etc on my entry ticket. There were no signs saying the car would be towed except on the access road to the Wing pit area which is fair enough, its a busy road.

When I parked my car, there was a steward in a yellow jacket standing 20 feet away who watched me park up and leave the car. So I guess you could say I was under the impression he had implied I was OK.

Thanks to the people who have replied with helpful comments, appreciated.

What reason have they given for your car being moved?

So your saying there was no signage with any T&Cs? No T&Cs on your ticket or that agreed to when purchasing your ticket have you read these?

I would suggest you contact SIlvertstone and complain, I assume they didn't charge you for towing?

Looking the guiadance on the website, it's pretty clear unless your car is registered for display with Silverstone Classic, then you park in one of the 6 free public carparks. They probably should not of allowed you into the area in which you parked, so maybe some of the blame is on them, but I would of made sure I knew were I was and wasn't allowed to park.

https://www.silverstoneclassic.com/info/spectator-...

I am still not clear on your thought process, as its a classic car event so my modern hot hatch isn't really something people want outside of the public carparks on such a day. So either you felt the 6 free car parks weren't for you or you weren't really concentrating just kept driving and parked your car with the thought, no sign and no one is moaning so hey ho I park here, clearly not a carpark.

Is the fact that you didn't follow the signs to car parks and no one challenged you all Silverstone's fault?

Personally I'd be wondering why no-one else had parked there and if it was a good idea for me to do so.

Stop being such a drama queen, if they have damaged your car either speak to a lawyer or just stop moaning about your sense of self importance over a hatchback.

I think 99.9% of the population would wonder the same thing.

However, it would appear a number of small children need to bang their heads on the corner of a table top at least once, before realising they should look where they are going.

I usually have huge sympathy for people who's vehicles get damaged, but not so much empathy when the situation was clearly easily avoidable, with a simple conversation. Assumptions being the mother of all flamingo ups.

Let's all hope that the drivetrain IS undamaged and fault free for the OP and the next owner(s) in this instance.

I agree, although we haven't heard if it is or isn't, so I'm assuming not.

.
Next time it might be worth a quick ''scuse me mate, ok if I park it here?"

That way we could all avoid the drama of 'illegal towing' threads. I mean what exactly are you fishing for with this thread? Do you expect PH to gather en masse and march on Silverstone's offices with our pitchforks at the ready?

It states quite clearly on the conditions of admission on my Silverstone Classic vehicle pass...

"Please assist us with the success of the event by only using the designated access/parking areas for this vehicle pass"

And then in bold Capitals

"UNAUTHORISED VEHICLES WILL BE TOWED"

Yes but. The OP like many others ASSumed those rules were meant for other people.

I don’t like seeing cars get damaged, but I do enjoy seeing self important people being inconvenienced.

He was fairly clear with the question he asked.

I don't have an answer, but given the age we live in, I'd be surprised if a car can't be moved from a public space or event, or indeed even blown up if enough suspicions were duly aroused.

It's difficult enough to organise such a large event on such a large area. As someone said, if you'd inadvertently parked on the track, I doubt it would be illegal for them to move it.

Have you spoken to Silverstone yet, and have they told you why it was moved?

I suspect many cars were 'parked' on the track and moved. Any live race circuit will have plenty of people on hand experienced in moving cars that may not be cooperative- usually without (additional) damage.
