In fairness he’s right it’s normally an old A3 dressed up to look like an S or RS3.

I feel qualified to judge because I’ve owned 3 Audi’s including an S3.

Simple answer is don't use illegal plates.

Why do you feel you need to have them?
Congratulations - took you all of 5 minutes from the OP to ignore the actual question of the OP and respond with a true PH keyboard warrior response...

The actual question for clarity was

clive993 said:
Does anyone know the type of vans that capture and fine illegal plates?
But it does answer the question, maybe not how you and the OP like.

The second was a question or are we not allowed to ask a follow on question?

If you actually look at almost any forum threads evolve, or change just like most idle conversations do

I use the word special, as to me changing the spacing is someones way of saying "look at me i'm Special (feel free to add any other word here)"

You see to me I don't get why anybody would want to draw police attention to their car. It just gives them another excuse to pull you.

To me the keyboard warriors are the ones that whenever anybody dares to have a go at somebody for breaking the law immediately come back with "I assume you have never committed a motoring related offence" or similar.

Anybody who drives has committed a motoring offence.

Gave a chap a ticket the other month for this. He started stating that everyone does it. In the 10 minutes of checks and filling out the ticket not 1 vehicle passed with an illegal plate and this was on a busy motorway. He soon shut up.

3 weeks later saw the same guy with the same illegal plate. DVLA have now revoked his 4 character plate. All simply could have been avoided by just following the rules.

I personally don't get it. You don't change the serial number of your TV or hoover so why change the 'serial number' of a car?
Expensive lesson. When you pulled him the first time did you explain the consequences of not changing the plate?

Because in the illegal and fk the law attitude and Chav central world of the moronic Chavplater, vanity comes first and foremost above anything else.

And here's a prime vile example, on one of the most ubiquitous Chav Chariots of choice, a low rent 'aspirational' scratchchin poverty spec BMW hehe

Yeah, but that's kind of the problem, isn't it?

I mean, if it were up to me, all sorts of behaviours would be encouraged and/or outlawed. But, see, that's the point ... it isn't up to individuals is it? And thank fk for that. There's a rule for all.
I know, heaven forbid someone has an opinion

I am a logical person and if the font is correct why does it matter if it says "M50 MYG" or "M5 0MY G" ?
As long as it can be read by the cameras then what's the issue?

I had a small number plate on the front of my Scirocco. It must have been in total half the size of a "legal" one.
It could be read by the camera in my local sainsburys that displayed your reg number and told you the time you had free parking till.

Okay - I'll bite, which vans? - Oh yes you didn't answer so my follow on question is do YOU know or not?

Drumroll said:

So you took it upon yourself, and being the first to respond to the OP, to "evolve" the thread to suit your own agenda?

And to summarize, you didn't know the answer and then spouted some guff to try to belittle the OP.

It's not a serial number, that would be the VIN, which, like the serial number on your TV or hoover, is not emblazoned across the front and back of your car.

Try a bit harder.

Ok the man was a prat and failed the attitude test, but wouldn't your time have been better spent pulling a tailgater or MLH ??

I think/agree that illegal plates are a bit naff (despite previously having one, see profile pic thing) but would genuinely love to have so little going on in my life that somebody else having one was such a big concern to me and would get me so angry.

Interesting that the OP got caught with a picture sent, first I've heard of it. Problem is that i doubt this will catch proper criminals as they're typically using cloned plates rather than relying on a screw head of slight spacing change to conceal their identity

Eh?

So according to your logic the number plate in no way identifies the car.

Riiight.

The fk the law attitude of Chavplaters invariably extends to other criminal activity.

You can do better, go on, try and really achieve your potential.

Is a car registration number like a TV or Hoover serial number?

Why not go the whole hog and say the police should be spending their time chasing proper criminals like burglars? wink

Well my opinion is why don't you stick to the law like everybody else has to?

What makes you think it is OK to drive around with a "half size" number plate?

That's logical.

The second "illegal" number plate just marks the car owner as a moron.

Thanks for your valuable input to this post.................... lets say i am asking for the thousands and thousands that do take the odd criminal liberty.
Surely you must have expected to get caught eventually. It's not like you can just ask a garage or motor factor to print dodgy plates. You had to go out of your way to find some shady online plate seller that offers illegal plates. You even have to change the plates to get through the MOT every year so you are going to great lengths to circumvent a law that you are fully aware of.

Just because others do it doesn't make it right. There's thousands of people that speed, myself included, but I don't use that as a defence when I get a ticket.

I'm pleased to hear that they are stating to use camera to pick up dodgy plates. Certain "communities" near my work seem to take pride in having the most elaborate dodgy plates trying to spell their culturally diverse names.

Ah, taking the name calling option. Shame, we'll never find out if you can actually use your brain.

For the record, both cars have the legal number plates that came fitted to them.

I expect the ticket took a long time to write out too - what with the misspaced number plate being so difficult to decipher.

Well I did, and never had trouble with it.
Again we all speed, we all do illegal things in one way or another.
You can't sit there preaching about it when you break the law yourself.
I find that more Moronic personally.
