I certainly read my insurance policies, because they are important. On other things, not always, but I accept it's my responsibility if my own laziness comes back to bite me.
I am guessing this is due to your career in the insurance industry pushing you to read them though if other things arent always a priorityI also read the relevant key clauses of any insurance policy I might cancel before I sign up, in the same way that I read the time limitations of any car park I might use. Thus far, no unexpected cancellation chargers and more importantly - no penalty parking charges.
If he continues with the policy check to make sure he's actually still insured when it's SORN'd for a long period. When I took my Lotus off the road I SORN'd it and I then informed my insurance company of the change (I was working on it in a garage not at my address) and they stated that they didn't insure SORN'd vehicles. Presumably to stop people accruing NCB on untaxed wrecks sat in a field.....
I cancelled the policy and looked into layed-up vehicle insurance which turned out to be more expensive than on the road insurance. I ended up risking it whilst I was working on it, which is probably a stupid thing to do, but I got away with it.

I am guessing you don't then, due to your career around complaining about parking signage, is off putting for you.

Just spotted this. You clearly have major issues to troll every post i put and somehow create a segway to car parking signs. What a strange creature that in 4 years you make 400 posts and most of them are complete and utter tripe. Nothing of any worth in anything you typeI also read the relevant key clauses of any insurance policy I might cancel before I sign up, in the same way that I read the time limitations of any car park I might use.
