Hi

Just got a nip stating caught speeding on motorway doing 98mph! Was I speeding hands up probably yes... was I doing 98mph. I can’t see how I was. Car is ten year old 107, with three stroke 1000cc engine. If ticket said 80 I’d agree and take the points and fine, but the car isn’t capable of doing 98. Not sure how to proceed. Has anyone ever successfully challenged an unrealistic speed reading?

Grateful for any views

The 0-62mph dash takes 14.2sec (14.9sec for the auto) and top speed is 100mph

I recall back in the day someone did. It requires independent testing and a court case after a not guilty plea.

I too wish to know more about this 3 stroke engine.

It would appear 67 bhp for the 107.

My lad was done for 96mph in a 60 bhp VW Polo.

Me: Why were you doing 96mph?
Son: That's as fast as it would go.
Me: Good man.

Interestingly he had been travelling down hill at the time, on stretch notorious for speed traps. Copper mentioned they were aware a car meet had been on and where waiting for people travelling back. Like shooting fish in barrel.

Was the camera on downhill stretch or after one?

I stopped someone doing 91MPH in a 60 a few years ago on a motorbike. Pleaded not guilty...said that they were in third gear and that their bike wouldn't do 91 in third...they had a Kawasaki Z1000SX...

Stopped a Audi RS6, nothing mad 40 in a 30. Coming out of a side road going up hill. He tried to say his car isn't that quick...I didn't hide my little chuckle at that one!

I think they only way to prove it is to go back to the same place and post the GPS and video on YouTube.

Would you need to prove that the car could not do the speed or would the prosecution have to prove that the car could do it.

No idea how old the car is, but they generally don't reach the quoted top speed if they are getting on a bit.

Doesn't it depend on which power band he's fitted?

My grandma had 3 strokes. I was in the bath at the time. Such lovely soft hands.
