I am reminded of the Goodwood Revival 2009 when I was invited to take one of my cars - the C-type. The car was to be driven by an octogenarian by the way. I explained that the engine wasn't fully run in and he accepted the point. After three laps he came in with a big grin. "How did you find it then" I cautiously enquired." Rather fun - brought back memories. Saw 120 on the Lavant straight". That was the running in completed then! Some old buffer called Sir Stirling Moss I seem to recall.
One ex legend formula one driver who takes care of himself and used to drive very fast for a living doesn't make an argument for all the bad old drivers.Same as there was a guy who became the youngest traffic cop in the early 2000s he was on traffic cops series and he was like 23/24 and flying around VOLVO T5s with an advanced ticket. Doesn't mean all under 25s are great drivers.
Apologies for the Daily Fail link....

I was on a national speed limit road yesterday with an old dear doing 30mph and causing some pretty bad traffic ques.
Hmm a driver who travels in an NSL at 30mph, Or a driver following who is unable to overtake with a 30mph window to play with. I suspect that's more of a combined problem than a single one.Had to have this discussion with my mother some time ago.
She never took her test as she got her licence during the 2nd World War when they just issued full licences - too much else going on to mess about with driving tests!
Anyway she'd had a couple of scrapes with immobile objects and at 88 we didn't feel comfortable with her driving.
Then I noticed when she got her insurance renewal for £520 (for a Fiesta) that she had done less than 500 miles between the last 2 MOTs.
Fortunately she didn't like spending money if she didn't have to so agreed to stop as it would be cheaper to just use cabs. She found a guy who was just setting up a chauffeur-hire business and used him to take her to the shops in an E-Class!
Then when I stopped working full-time I took over.
