I just received a letter from Pisa municipality advising me I have been caught by a fixed camera speeding (112 kph in 90kph zone)

I don't know how they got my details, probably from the DVLA, as this was in my own car. I actually sold the car last week though.

Am I ok to throw this in the bin or am I going to have issues with police the next time i enter the country?

I literally don't even have a clue how to pay this fine because the payment instructions are utterly absurd:

"It can be paid by: bank deposit: Provincia di Pisa - Tesoreria INTERNATIONAL BANKING COORDINATES: Banca Di Pisa e Fornacetta VIA TOSCO ROMAGNOLA 101/A CALCINAIA - FORNACETTE 56012 PI IBAN CODE: IT 05 L 08562 70910 0000 1087 3594. Important to cite the reason for payment in the form including the number plate, Local Police and Municipal Region"

Wtf am i supposed to do with that?

Banca Di Pisa e Fornacetta VIA TOSCO ROMAGNOLA 101/A CALCINIA- is the bank name and address, FORNACETTE 56012 is the post code and the banking details to pay into you use the IBAN number- IT05 L08562 70910 0000 1087 3594. To complete payment just do as they ask by citing the reason for payment along with your details and reg number..job done..

Entirely up to you whether you choose to pay but...be aware there could be implications on entering Italy again if you choose not to.

I've had two fines in Italy - one in Pisa - I ignored the pisa one. The other was a hire car, so I had to pay the hire co. 30 odd Euros, but I dind't pay the fine.

They are not very organised, and no, you won't get stopped by Interpol entering Italy for an unpaid speed fine.Do you really think they a) care b) have that much time at border control c) don't want your tourist money? :-)

If it was Switzerland, you would have had a problem and you would have to pay. But this is Italy ...

Is this website any use to the OP?

I had a similar thing in Spain and I could pay using my credit card. My view was that I go there regularly and so why take the chance for a few euros and no points

I had the exact same situation, was caught speeding in Italy 3 years ago in my own car which I subsequently sold. They sent a few strong letters and the amount increased but I didn't pay it. Returned several times since and no issues.

Had I kept the car and intended to take it back to Italy I would have paid the fine...to avoid any awkward ANPR situations.

I got a ticket for speeding in the motorhome in Germany. It was only 20 Euro, the only problem was it had to be paid by IBAN transfer, which my bank charges about £20 for . . . I got a friend with a Euro bank account to pay it for me instead (for £20)
