I ordered some Gin online, I was out, Courier delivered it to the wrong house, we are no.1 he delivered it to no. 11.
I phoned company up and enquired where the item was, they said they would contact courier, and came back saying it had been signed for by no.11
I went round to no.11's and the chap said he only realised the mistake when he took the parcel inside to open it, and then on realising the mistake took it round to mine, rang the bell, nobody was in, so left it on the doorstep.

My gut feeling is neighbour has kept it (around £100 worth). Ive been in contact with seller and they are considering sending me some more at no cost but I am awaiting a call back from a manager.

Anything else I can do regarding neighbour? Sausages/lawn not needed!

Absolutely nothing unless you've got CCTV that can prove/disprove his story.

That said, what makes you think he stole it? He's been decent enough to confirm it was delivered to him and has also tried to drop it round to you in his own time. You have to take him at his word unless you have any evidence to the contrary.

Also the company have said they'll replace the goods at no cost to you so why would you even bother trying to follow up with the neighbor even if it did turn out that he'd stolen it?

He's obviously nicked it, but he probably just thinks you'll get it replaced so it's a faceless company that's losing out, not a neighbour.

who leaves things on people's door steps? Leave a note, or come back when they're in...

^^ This.

Nobody who worries about their own deliveries going missing, would put someone else's at risk. Its not natural behaviour.

Amazon do it in our area - bit annoying to come home and find a soggy box on the doorstep.

But it seems unlikley a neighbour would do it, especially having opened the parcel and knowing what it contained.

He's either guilty of theft or being a total moron.

I'd probably audit his glass recycling receptacle every time it's put out for circa 12-24m to see if the empties appear. If they do, he'd be off my Christmas card pronto

There is nothing you can do about the neighbour.
Assuming you paid the supplier to deliver, then the supplier (not the delivery company) still owe you a bottle of Gin. They have not delivered it to you, they chose to trust someone else to pass it to you, that's their problem, not yours.

If the supplier do not play ball, use a charge back to get your money returned. And yes, you can do this with a debit card as well as a credit card.

It's a different matter if you directly instructed a courier to collect the bottle for you.

Had this happen to me 15 years ago - was waiting for a new mobile phone to be delivered. A week had passed and nothing, so got in contact with the supplier. Transpired it had been delivered and signed for. The signature was not mine, but I could just make out a potential name. Following a trip to the library to inspect the Electoral Register I tracked it down a house 10 doors down from mine. Postie had delivered it to the wrong address. It's now 3 weeks since the delivery and one of my neighbours has a parcel belonging to me, addressed to me, which they'd opened and so knew it was a brand new phone and they'd made no attempt to give it back to me. I assume they were planning to leave it a while then just pocket the phone. I made them feel as awkward as possible when questioning why they'd made no attempt to either pass it on to me or return it to the sender.

A certain parcel carrier was due to deliver a parcel to a friend of mine about 6 months ago. They were surprised to read the delivery note through the door saying, "dropped with man at bins". The homeless chap who lived in their bin store overnight.

Either time for frozen sausageshammered in the lawn if you are absolutely sure, or, if you are up in some doubt, call round and explain that you've just been contacted by the gin supplier who have explained that the batch contained lethal levels of methyl alcohol and should not be drunk. The expression on your neighbours face will reveal much about the consignments whereabouts smile

It takes a special kind of dickwad to take in a parcel to prevent it being stolen, only to then go and (allegedly) leave it on your step where it is prime target for theft.

Neighbour is a moron or a thief.

Sounds like he's stolen it, but you're not going to prove this.

The courier companies don't help themselves at times, but people do try to rip them off when they've an avenue.

The last few deliveries I've had have all required signatures. Each time the driver has signed and left the parcel. Amazon couriers are the most guilty of this.

Twice they were left in the garden of a house on the wrong street and another in full visibility.

The best one was just the other week. A fully visible note at my door telling me where they had hidden the parcel. laugh

Quite easily I could have claimed for hundreds of pounds off Amazon. Their couriers are leaving them wide open for it to happen.

Where do you think I got a copy of the signature from?

As far as they were concerned the parcel had been delivered to the correct address and signed for, when in reality the postie had delivered to the wrong address and my kindly neighbour had signed for a parcel not addressed to them.

It is possible that they never got the parcel. A neighbour came to our door and said we had signed for a parcel for them. Apparently an amazon dot. They had an online slip with my signiture on it! We turned the house over and still it hasnt showed up and neither do I remember signing for it. The most embarrasing thing is that the neighbour probably thinks we stole it as we don't know them well and they are significantly more well off than we are.

Bit harsh of you to accuse your neighbour of such a thing with no evidance what so ever. He could have genuinely left it at your door.

I am sure the company will resend you the order and give the courior company a telling off.

End of the matter really - no need for you to report anything or accuse someone of something you have no right to do.

If you really want to prove the matter, may stalk them and get some survellance equipment if you wish or go through their bins when the time is right.

You could of seen the address online.

If you phoned up and said a parcel is showing as delivered with a signature but it hasn’t been then all the managers do is find out what pda was used then they can see exactly where it was delivered.

So if it had been delivered wrongly they’d of known where it was actually delivered to .
