To further my point earlier, What you're seeing, as noted by others is a very good example of non / de escalation; As has been seen all to often in the past -
Peaceful protest -> "Strong" police reaction -> Violent reaction.
That’s how I see it. I imagine the skateboarding policeman would be wanting to wrap the board round the nearest treehuggers head if the cameras all went off and everyone looked the other way as he will also have been stuffed for getting into work.
Me too. As much as I want these idiots drop kicking into next month due to the misery they're inflicting on people wading into them will result in huge disorder.

It's a typical 'I am fummin' Mail headline. Lets not look at the bigger picture and just moan about the police, yawn.
I agree the police are probably fumming but as others have said the Police can maintain order by being professional and not joining in as its showing them their actions are ok. They can show they disaprove by being polite, professional and the most important being impartial.

No need for water cannons as this will just cause a riot and no need to dance/skateboard to keep them on side. Being professional and inpartial would do the same job as playing the fool.

Whilst thinking everyone has their right to protest and have a point of view the damage being done will harm the cause they are trying to highlight.
I am not quite sure why the organisers and the celebs who are on TV encouraging the commission of an offence are not being dealt with for err encouraging the commission of an offence.

It's not that Emma Thompson flew in to support the protesters it's that she flew from a country that has 3 times the CO2 emissions per Capita to protest against ours that passed the 50% reneweables for the first time last year.
