Parking ticket, worth contesting?
Discussion
As you can see I park my little old Alfa on a big bit of pavement. Been doing it for months.
I have no other feasible option for free parking. I live in one of 6 houses very closeby (In Farnham Town center if you're wondering), all of the houses have two cars and all apart from us have a second parking space which they pay £50 a year for. They were allocated on a first come first serve basis and we lost out.
There are two big car parks very close by but I'd have to pay over £1100pa for an annual parking permit. I don't really think that's fair but I've been dealing with it by parking in the location shown.
I realise I have no right to park there and obviously understand you're not really supposed to park on a pavement but as it's such a large space and doesn't inconvenience anyone I can't think of a good reason why I shouldn't.
The issue I have is with the reason given on the ticket "parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours" There is a row of parking spaces along the road(shown in 3rd pic) which is controlled, Mon - Sat 8am-8pm Permit holders A or 2 hours no return within 1(pic 4) But that quite obviously pertains to those spaces.
What do you guys think? worth contesting on grounds that where I'm parked isn't actually restricted?
Am I actually parked In/On a street? do the double yellows have any relevance?
If the ticket (issued by Guildford borough council) said "parked on pavement" then I'd swallow that pill and pay up but I think it's an iffy reason. Strange it's taken months to get a ticket too. New warden taking a punt maybe?
Double yellow lines apply to the full width of the road, which includes the pavements. You are bang to rights, pay up.

FWIW parking on the footpath usually leads to the footpath deteriorating over time and then gradually resembling a Beirut footpath. It makes the place look like a dump and costs the Council tens of thousands to fix it (IF they ever bother to fix it).Countdown said:

See your own previous statement. It appears to be either the footpath, or a footpath, either way it is not a parking space.
Google Street.

There doesn't appear to be a T-bar at the end of the double yellow lines

There doesn't need to be an end bar anymore.https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1567573/Te...
The double yellow lines apply to the pavement too. You must know that you shouldn’t be parking there simply because it’s a bloody pavement.
I live in Manchester City Centre and have to pay £1100 for 12 months of parking. I however think this is good value given that it allows me to park in any one of up to 15 central NCP car parks 24 hours a day.
