Caught By Camera?
Discussion
Typically, I got up this morning feel terrible and had to follow my mum to the garage to pick her up once she'd dropped her car off.
When we got to the garage she informed me there had been a speed camera in the back of a van on the road we'd just driven down. Thanks to me feeling sh1t I hadn't noticed it, but sure enough it was there on the way back but had turned round by that time.
The camera had two lenses if I saw it correctly and was getting oncoming traffic as far as I could see.
The speed limit was 30mph, shortly before going into a 40mph zone. I don't know what speed I was doing but I may have accelerated towards the 40mph zone - what's the most likely outcome given that I wasn't stopped at the roadside?
I'm hoping that maybe the van was turning round when I went past as I don't see how else I could have missed it - it was clearly marked. Also, mum mentioned that they were sending warning letters out round here. But, I don't know whether to expect 3 points and a fine, a letter, or nothing at all since I didn't get stopped at the roadside?

My brother recently got pinged my a scamera van a few feet before a NSL from a 30 limit, received a NIP for 35 in a 30 As with you he had just begun accelerating as the 30 limit had extended well out of the conurbation into the country.
So they don't need to stop you. Sit tight for a couple of weeks and watch the letterbox is your only answer I think

AIUI the purpose of extending the limit in this way is to provide a buffer zone for the important bit of the limit, ie. in the built-up area. It seems crazy (ie. entirely predictable) that the focus of the speed enforcement would be in the buffer zone rather than the bit that's most important. A clear proof that it's about £££ not safety.
Thanks for the replies - it sounds like I may have been caught but I'll just have to wait it out.
The annoying thing is that I don't even know if I was speeding, I'm guessing I may have been because the road is nice and open and going into a 40mph zone. I don't even know if the van was there - it seems unbelievable that I missed it, but then I was not feeling well so maybe I did...
I guess you'll see another post from me in a couple of weeks - one wy or the other.
