I got a ticket a couple years ago, took a speed awareness course and guess what? I didn't bh about it because, believe it or not, I was actually going too fast.
'Going too fast', or 'exceeding the speed limit'?

Both I suppose, but the second one, officially. smile

Does any of it matter?

If you don't go too fast you won't get caught. smile

It really is that simple.
Are you on the right forum?
You can just about bet your house that some sanctimonious, law-abiding paragon of virtue will trot out that reply every time there's a speeding topic posted.
"A sanctimonious, law-abiding paragon of virtue" Don't think I've ever been described like that before, so thanks hehe

Ignore Ade.

He has reputation for being a pendantory-throbber to constantly live down to.

Although I am a little shocked. Page 2 and nobody has mentioned the usual one about limits being targets.

And... you can guarantee totally ironic comment from one of the better known pendants.

A good friend represented himself and got speeding thrown out due to the police officer hiding behind their unmarked car. He was able to obtain CCTV footage which had shown them clearly and played this to the judge in court. This was about 4 years ago so I don't know if anything has changed since then.
It just shows what you can do when you represent yourself. clap
It was more to do with the officer contradicting himself in front of the judge, so more to do with incompetence than hiding.

To the others that don't believe it, I don't care? Some of you clearly think everything goes as you think it should around here.

I got accused of hiding...

I was stood in a hi vis jacket. I'm six foot four, not slim...under a street light...outside a police station

Sounds like a community speedwatch disguise.

Definitely hiding.

I have been caught by a trafffic officer who was hiding. I asked the officer who booked me where the guy with the speed gun was and he said 'Hiding at the bottom of the hill'. I don't think there's anything to stop them doing that.

I don't see a problem with the fuzz hiding or being inconspicuous. I think the idea is to catch people driving like they do when they think there are no police around.

Nothing wrong with speeding btw, but if you get caught suck it up and accept the punishment.

It is an interesting point.

Our police are considerably more conspicuous compared to their continental cousins when catching car driving criminals

I've also stayed in the unmarked car and used the laser out the window. Did it today. Nothing wrong with it.
Out of interest do you have the window down to avoid interference from the glass?

Shame Mandalore deleted his post. I've a reputation to maintain, but I feel I'm being put in the shade.

My post is still there AND you are still making stuff up to suit your own particular brand of double standards. smile

Got bagged just about three years ago by a policeman hiding behind a hedge at dusk. Just his l'il speed gun poking out the foliage, car stashed round the corner.
Tough luck, but didn't try to fight it as a) I was being a dick, and b) I hadn't had a ticket since 1988, so I'm careful enough that I wasn't really worried about picking up any more points.

Many years ago I lived next to a police station. Got to know the resident cops quite well, and one in particular didn't feel that trapping motorists was the reason he signed up. When he had to do the speed gun he'd park his liveried car broadside on to traffic in a good open spot. He reasoned that most folk slowed down when they saw it (even if they weren't speeding) and anyone he actually caught was so stupid they didn't deserve to hold a driving licence.
