Winning and losing is about picking your battles. This one isn’t worth it. I can’t think of any interactions on the road that are worth it.
So why spend time describing how you can make them speed up and slow down and generally control their driving?

Christ on a bike. Look how sharp everything is. Look at the vans wheels. That's not 60mph, it's basically standing traffic.

That's why you're not getting the video.

Looks like there was plenty of space in lanes 1&2 for you to move over and let him past.

Selecting snippets of the video is just cementing the view that you’re hiding something. Show the two minutes of footage leading up to this.

If there wasn't more to the video than you're saying, you'd post it. I'll take a little guess at a bit of brake checking, probably some pointless horn usage as the van passes. Maybe even a little swerve to the left to teach him a lesson? Go on OP, prove me wrong. wink

Think I'm hiding something if you like. I couldn't care less as I know I've provided all the facts.

Because it’s a handy technique that allows you to harness idiocy of other drivers so that you can drive fast with minimal interference from the rozzers.

It also might help the OP who seems a bit put out by someone cutting him up. He should stop viewing the incident as win/lose and instead view it as an opportunity to be exploited.

If there was then I could understand why he'd have been miffed and I wouldn't have bothered posting. I didn't need to prove I'm in the right to people that never even knew the event ever took place and then only had half the information. It makes no sense for me to have to prove anything. Hell it could be a random video on the internet I found and it's not even me if you want to believe it's all a conspirency.

As others have said, it's not worth the grief from illogical posters.

queue
You've used this word multiple times, and I think it reveals the primary reason the van driver's knobbish behaviour has upset you...

If you start thinking "I'm driving" instead of "I'm queuing", that might help.

Taken to the extreme, the "queue" mentality is what leads to lane hogging, accelerating when being overtaken, rage at being undertaken, straddling lanes a mile before a merge point and ultimately your frustrated wife pursuing an affair with someone who doesn't think driving = queuing.

Lane Hogger - Check
Dashcam - Check
Sense of entitlement - Check

Go buy an Audi or a Zafira depending on how council you are. At least it will be a warning to other drivers.

The M6 is a busy road. It isn't helped by people like you. It seems that you aren't alone with the "I WANT to go quicker so I will stay in the 3rd lane" numpties.

Want to spot me? I am the guy in lane 1 and 2 sailing past you all.

Yes. Everyone's slowing down to queue. Look at the vans wheels. They are moving.

Show everyone the video. Make me look a bellend. I don't care. You wont be the first and I will say sorry when you do.

I’m quite surprised more vehicles didn’t undertake and fill that gap in lane 3 you’d left.

What on earth are you on about? If the middle lane is clear AND the outside lane was also clear in front of me, only then would I be hogging. I was travelling at the same speed as the vehicle in front of me with the intention of wanting to travel slightly faster. It's called being in a queue and by the sounds of it, you're as bad as the van driver if that's your logic of how roads work.

Moving into the left lane is not going to get me going faster is it, unless you're advocating doing it to undertake people which is an offence.
Was you overtaking anything in the middle lane?

No

It was obviously clear for the van driver to undertake you! This means you were hogging the lane! You and anyone else ahead in this queue are hogging a lane I’m afraid

This makes zero sense. Hogging the lane for who; the people behind me? By your logic they're also hogging the lane.

It's impossible to hog the outside lane unless it is clear in front of you because you don't have the option to overtake on the right, so you're effectively stuck which is why it then becomes a queue of traffic.

I really don't understand how you can fail to grasp this simple concept.

It’s rather more subtle than that though, and it about one’s willingness (or not) to tailgate the guy in front.

If the OP had been up the arse of the car in front, then this wouldn’t have happened, there would have been no room. But the OP was actually driving a sensible distance from the car in front, and it is this gap the van driver exploits because he is willing to drive too close to other cars.

It also depends on the situation. If the outside lane is going faster than the inside lane, then you are literally in a queue of faster drivers - if you should pull over, then so should the guy behind you, because he is in exactly the same position.

The “there’s a gap you can just about to fit into on your LHS” argument tends to be supported by the people who think 6 foot behind the car in front is a reasonable distance at 70.

This video is not about “who can go faster than the other” - it is about a willingness to drive dangerously close to the car in front.

But, like I said upthread, chill and take advantage.
