Complaining about holiday
Discussion
They ignored our complaint and request for some money back in June.
Hotel and holiday was lovely but the rep was non existent which made organising a few things a bit of a faff.
The thing we wanted money back for was the wife had paid extra for more baggage weight on the flight but it turns out our flight was with easyJet not TC and EasyJet’s standard weight limits are higher than even the extra we paid for.

I’ve just come back from my first ever package holiday.
Never again!
2.2k for a week all inclusive in Marmaris for me, my partner and my 8 year old daughter. All inclusive (apart from, mysteriously, WiFi, which was an extra £6 per day per device). God it was awful, like living in the worst possible council estate. Literally nothing to do all day except drink or swim in the overcrowded pools, and listen to massively loud disco music and watch the ‘games’ the staff put on. Any trip on offer was full of the same kind of people. Oh, and bingo, lots of bingo. Food moderate.
Tripadvisor reviews were great (4 star hotel), but I guess they were placed by people who like that sort of thing. And yes, I know this makes me sound like a massive snob.
If it had just been me and my partner we’d have flown back after a couple of days, but my daughter loved it, made lots of friends and just played all day. So in my book, it was worth it, but she’ll hate next years holiday which will be full of museums and art galleries!
Oh, one thing - the staff were absolutely wonderful and very friendly, often in the face of severe adversity.
Not going to complain though, just going to write it off to experience and be a bit more careful next time!

If you buy on price, travel in August & stay in over-populated corny locations then expect the minimum & hope to be surprised.
Even if travelling in high season cannot be avoided improve the depth & breadth of your research prior & try to up the budget.
Maybe a nicer hotel/location but for only 7 or 10 days & try & make the prospect of hot sunny weather less of a priority.

If you want museums, art galleries and history, why bother with all inclusive?
Because this was specifically a holiday for a small person who wanted kids club and pool etc. As I said, next holiday she gets that (self catered). What I didn’t expect was to undergo a social experiment of living in a (very hot) council estate.Vaud said:

You have mail...Complain to the rep every time they're on site.
Complaining when you're back is a waste of time. TC will reply saying they want 28 days to investigate. They don't. You then have to chase them for a reply to your complaint. They then offer a voucher so you'll go away.
I used that voucher as part payment on this years holiday. I'm only using them as the hotel we want to go to only accepted bookings through TC. It's very easy to see why they're in trouble

So you went on a cheap holiday... and it was full of cheap people? Never again!

It’s fine being a snob, but being a snob on lemonade money is always going to leave you disappointed.

But, you do it because your kids enjoy the clubs.

Those super-resort AI holidays have been exactly like that for years.

They are not all like that - The place we have just returned from is AI and family orientated and there are plenty of beds by the pool at any time of day despite the hotel itself being at capacity in the summer holidays. This was £6K for 2 weeks in Greece with TUI.
I've done a few packaged holidays on all inclusive or half board basis in the past. Reading the TripAdvisor reviews the vast majority are hugely popular. Even the people at the hotel all seem to be enjoying their holiday and food.
I can't say I've had a meal that I would pay for in an average restaurant. It is nearly always buffet food and the customers value quantity over quality.
Small rooms and lack of sun loungers is normal as well.
It works for loads of other people. They appear to enjoy this type of holiday. I wouldn't ever consider doing another one, but they clearly work for other people.
