Using Pistonheads a barometer for Private plate hate/love. There are two threads running.
Good Plates
Crappy plates
The good plate thread is 100 posts from Vol 6
The Crappy plate thread has only just ticked over the Vol 3
So to suggest that 'everyone laughs at them' or 'the majority of PH dont like personalised plates' seems devoid of evidence.
Now I think its time everyone moves on with their lives and stops obsessing over bits of plastic on a car
That's only a measure of PHers who can be arsed to put finger to keyboard about them, no more no less.Good Plates

Most of those plates are truly good.
But they certainly are not all the misplaced bodged up versions being discussed on here or that crappy plate thread.
Post count is no measure of either.
Well at least you are taking it like a man OP!
Wise decision to abandon the Chavplate vanity thing in the name of common sense. You will undoubtedly feel far far better about yourself with a normal and legal plate as opposed to the huge pretence associated with a fake and illegal plate.
Hopefully more of those in Chavplating circles will adopt a similar stance.
And hopefully the sooner these ridiculous plates are banned the better and it certainly does appear there are moves afoot along these lines. May the change gather pace.
In the meantime thanks for an interesting and entertaining thread.

OP here, just to close this off my fixed penalty notice arrived this morning - £100. No more dodgy plates for me!
Kudos for not whining about it.Sadly, as you say, there are a number of folk about with much worse, but unfortunately there aren't degrees of illegality - it's either legal or it isn't. Anyone driving with a plate like yours was is fair game for the cops if they are so inclined, and particularly if they've pulled you for some other reason.

PASS YET
Red driving school Fiesta.
Tut tut using an illegal Chav plate to promote a business.
Assuming that’s PA55 YET, which does relate to a red fiesta diesel, that’s not illegal??Red driving school Fiesta.
Tut tut using an illegal Chav plate to promote a business.
So illegal butchering by a 'professional' driving instructor in order to promote business.
Does beg the question if said professional instructor is prepared to break the law with his number plate, what other illegal activities is he/she guilty of I wonder.

He still hasn't grasped it. And probably never will.

Edit
Notice he hasn't photoed the front plate which was displayed as PASS YET

Honestly some people really need their heads testing Kewy.
I don't honestly understand how someone can have such a strong view about something so inconsequential, and yet when wrong, dig their heels in so much.
I honestly, truthfully, do not understand it :/
Quite!I don't honestly understand how someone can have such a strong view about something so inconsequential, and yet when wrong, dig their heels in so much.

A simply 'Oh I must have misread that one' would have demanded a little respect at least.
To be honest I was done with this silly little argument but I couldn't help but chuckle when I saw the posts on the other thread.
I think I'll call that a day
Quite so!
Fair enough, I accidentally got drawn into scrolling through that thread for a while (the crappy plates one).
While yes some plates are very stupid, as an aside to that I do wonder what goes on in the lives of the 12 or so repeat posters on that thread who go to their local Sainsburys only to photograph 5 cars around the car park before they actually go shopping, and then go home and upload them onto the web.
Very odd.

Most people would take the reasonable view that what is far odder behaviour is to feel the need to display a butchered and illegal Chav plate in the first place whilst the majority of the population are content with abiding by the law with a normal legal plate. And do we know exactly when that photo was taken?
Have you got any pictures showing it with an illegal number plate? All the pictures on PH and via google show the perfectly legal PA55 YET.Read the C124PPY Chav plate thread for more info.

No I was driving at the time so couldnt take a photo but we passed in the opposite direction.
Read the C124PPY Chav plate thread for more info.
I've read it. The last 3 of 4 plates you posted aren't real plates. So safe to assume that you failed to read the number plate correctly, particularly given as all photographic evidence suggests that the number plate is in fact completely legal.Read the C124PPY Chav plate thread for more info.

Haha all Chavplates aren't real!
They are a master plan in fakery.
And your statement is simply further evidence of the major problem accurately identifying illegally butchered Chavplates.
No, no. Just your failing eyesight. They are a master plan in fakery.

Perhaps concentrate on the road rather than trying to 'spot' peoples number plates.
For the record 5's and S's in Legal number plate font do look very similar. If you are however unable to read number plates at the required minimum distance ,as is becoming evident, you are in fact driving illegally.
