Horses on roads

However, I personally wouldn't be so much of a selfish pr*ck as to ride something slow moving and skittish in an urban environment and to deliberately hold up lots of traffic on a regular basis. Which is why I also don't dress in lycra and take to the country roads on a bike.
Ah you miss the point. These horse & bike riding types LOVE being a nuisance it makes their day so much more enjoyable. No doubt they swop stories as to how many motorists they have annoyed per trip.WJNB said:

Either one of those self important types or a genuine attempt at humour?Hang on, didn’t you start a massive thread about cyclists?
I live in the sticks, and regularly encounter horse riders enjoying their leisure activity - all of whom are much more polite, considerate, and aware of the traffic around them than the herds of road cyclists, who are seemingly oblivious to all but themselves, that I encounter enjoying their leisure activity. The difference being that the horse riders are on their way to bridleways, fields or other off-road areas where they can enjoy their pastime away from heavy traffic (not unlike mountain bikers), whereas road cyclists are the gift that just keeps on giving.
If the argument that all legitimate road users have as much right to use the road as any other road user is valid, then that extends to horse riders too (no, I’m not one).
As an ex-biker I’ve ended up in a hedge after hitting horse st (my fault, I should have seen it), and slid down the road after hitting a diesel spill, which I couldn't see. At least you can avoid horse st.

What a great and simultaneously depressing thread. One group of contributors on here evidently lack enough real life experience and come across as spoilt and entitled. Out in the real world they are quite easy to pick out as soon as they speak, I find. If things like this get you so 'woke', life is really far better than you realise.
