I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager to resolve this and she said the same - unless the car is being driven then there is no offence.
Just goes to show how thick the basic staff must be if their supervisor/manager is this stupid.
I suspect you'd be shocked at the gaps in your knowledge were you to go and work a shift alongside these thickies...

Just to close this thread off. The traffic police cop turned up this afternoon with a tow truck. 5 minutes later and the car was taken away. Hopefully that is the end of it all. byebye
Well that's a result!

Here we go again eek

Coming home and see a blue Volvo estate parked where the Smart car used to be. It belongs to a resident around the corner in the next cul-de-sac and is usually parked further away. As I drive past the driver is getting out and glares at me and looking in my mirror watch him look around before locking the car and walking away.
So a check on the DVLA site to find the tax ran out 21st September. MOT expires in 4 days. So, curiosity got to me and checking it on the MID shows as uninsured.
Called 101 and very nice lady took the call and recorded it all. See what happens this time then.

According to the stats there are 1 million uninsured cars on UK roads which is about 1 in 38.

Not sure I understand. If he’s from a different cul-de sac and just parking his car, why is he glaring at you? Even more so if it’s not taxed and insured as you wouldn’t want to draw any unnecessary attention.

Very unusual for the tax to run out on 21 September. The car must've just changed ownership.

No idea really other than there are 2 speed bumps either side of his car and maybe thought I was being nosey driving slowly past him?

Yes could be the reason. But he has had it for a while as it used to be parked further along the same road. The car tax database updates very quickly though?
Watching Police Interceptors on telly last night (West Yorks) one of them said that they now have an agreement with DVLA to seize untaxed vehicles if the tax is out by 2 months and one day. Which will be tomorrow funnily enough. scratchchin

Yep, maybe. Or he's a relative giving it to them to replace the Smart car their 20 stone 17 year old son struggled to get into. Along with his 16 stone dad.....

Its back! The Smart has just been driven back by the family (MID has been updated too)
While away, a BMW was parked in that area. The Smart is now parked within a couple of inches of the BMW front and the Vauxhall Meriva the mother drives is parked very close to the rear. He'll struggle to get out.
Love they neighbour...... rolleyes

Episode 2.

The police turned up last weekend asking if my CCTV shows the blue Volvo estate. Unfortunately not. It seems they have been looking for it for some time and a wanted crim is associated with it. No tax, no insurance, no MOT and no driving licence and is a pool car. Asking for a description of the staring man (the driver) and they decide he is not the wanted man as he's way too young. Off they go.
Since then the car has never returned so either they've realised plod is on the case or (hopefully) plod has caught them.

And yet...despite my entire knowledge of how police work being from road wars, it seems they do occasionally have time to act on intelligence

So this kind of report must help them build a picture of pool car usage.
