Someone died there chaps, it's not what the thread's about.
My apologies, It wasn't immediately apparent that you were being serious...ScotHill said:
Boundary disputes are the Rolls Royce of SP&L threads, showcasing the best and worst of people and underlining the fundamentals of justice in a very British way. However, there haven't been any for months and the last few never had any closure, i.e. the guy whose neighbour cut down his trees and built a fence on his land.
So to make eating my overpriced and/or undermade lunchtime sandwich more bearable this week, it would be great if you could recount below your boundary dispute tales - kudos if there are links to pre-existing threads, more kudos if there are legal judgements involved, and maximum kudos if you know where the bodies are buried.
Regards.

Well now, I thought my story had run its course but my (now not so) good friend Gary has gone and spoiled everything. For those not familiar with my dispute see the previous page.
After his parting words last time I saw him (last week), where he said, 'Do what you like, I don't care' I carried on with reclaiming my garden. I carefully placed all his delightful gnomes and plant pots on top of his wall and dug out 4 shrubs. While raking it all level, dear Gary comes out shouting, 'Oi! oi! get those fence panels off my wall' went back in and slammed the door. With the help of my beloved, I knocked in some posts on my side of the boundary ready to fix some wire to it so we could finally end this situation and mark the boundary once and for all.
However,
Last night, 5.30pm a knock at the door and see a bearded man who says he is Gary's son and could he have a word? He was very amenable and pleasant so no drama there. He confirmed the history of the land admitting he and Gary cut the trees down, erected the concrete sectional fence and fixed the battens to the wall etc etc. The problem he had was understanding the ownership of the land saying I could not see it when sat in my garden so this allowed them to take it. He then mentioned the '7 year rule' suggesting he was claiming it. I think he meant the 10 year rule of occupation or something like 'adverse occupation' so I told him that involves the Land Registry.
To keep the peace I agreed to remove the concrete fence panels (which Gary paid for) which I had carefully laid on Gary's wall as they were his property. Him - 'No they are your property'. Me - 'Gary bought them and put them up so he owns them'. Him - 'No they are yours' and so it went on.
Asking about the fence posts I told him they marked the boundary and I would simply string some wire along them like a farmer's type fence. 'That's okay then, my dad thought you were putting up a 6 foot panel fence.
He thanked me for taking the time to speak with him saying his dad was 'on the edge' and he was worried he might do something stupid. We shook hands and he left some 30 minutes later.
The 'something stupid' happened sooner than expected. This morning, 9.30am, I see Gary's 4x4 outside the house. Ah, his lad must have spoken with him so hopefully we are all sorted now. I have made a serious error of judgement.
I open the door to say hello and Gary launches into a verbal attack. 'That's enough. I've got solicitors now and you have to stay off the land. You've committed criminal damage and you don't go down there again. You stay off' accompanied by finger pointing.
I cannot get a word in until he starts to walk away. 'I've explained all this....' but he rounds on me again and comes right up to the door. 'I've told you, you stay off the land, my solicitor is sorting it out.'
Me - 'Go away, I'm not speaking to you when you're like this' and close the door. I walk back towards my front room when I hear the front door opening. I turn round to see him coming into my house. I run at the door and try to close it but Gary stops me. I'm shouting at him to get out and to f*ck off but he continues. He weighs a good 16 stone or more. I push against the wall and shove as hard as I can. Gary is shouting, telling me I'll do what he tells me and stay away from the garden. I manage with difficulty to close the door. He immediately tries again to open it and I fight to lock the door to keep him out. He is shouting at me through the door telling me to stay away. As he can see me through the glass panels I walk away hoping he too will go. He does.
This dispute is going to rumble on.....

I have CCTV and its recorded, sadly no sound. I have reported it to the police but its not ranked as urgent so no idea if/when they will call.
He has previous for barging into his neighbour's house to 'have a word.' On that occasion he used a ladder to climb onto the roof of the garage. Pulled the ladder up, carried it across to the other side, lowered it into her garden, climbed down and walked straight through the back door. She manoeuvred him back into the garden then closed the dog gate to keep him out. He returned the same way. All very strange when he could just walk to the front door and knock.
During the conversation with the son, he suggested his dad was losing it and I was very surprised he came round. He has made threats about not removing the decking and so on but just before the deadlines for court action by the council he has backed down. So I have no idea yet if his solicitor threats will be real.

Not a dispute as such...
Some years ago at work we had a presentation from someone from the Land Registry and he told a story about working in Oz sorting out the boundaries of some of the farms. Out there the farms are REALLY big - hence the involvement of helicopters to round up sheep. No one can whistle loud enough so the dogs can hear at these sorts of distances.
So they were plotting the corner of some adjoining farms and eventually everyone agreed where the boundary should be - no dispute and everything sorted out amicably over a tinnie or ten.
Then they looked at the plans and realised that they were not quite accurate and would need amendment.
The correction (note - not the size of the farm but the amount by which they had to move the line on the plan) - 35 MILES!
There have been wars where the national boundaries didn't move that far.

Sounds all a bit sad. He's more than likely been unbalanced since the death of his wife. Often these several complainers and obsessive types have a sad back story
Was mental before wife parted company with her physical being. It just likely increased the mental.I'm not sure how someone forcing their way into your home and using mildly threatening behaviour is not classed as relatively urgent though. Opportunity here to stamp on the possibility of it escalating and they're just gonna grab the popcorn?
