Depends where it was, if it was anywhere near Herts, they will be jumpy as hell due to what happened in Stevenage. So as others have said, it is simply best to avoid these "meets"

I have seen them, been involved in them, there are always a few dicks about, and they sod about and mess it up,l then go on the roads and do the same.

I have often wondered why the police do not get involved in commandeering old airfields with these groups, let these kids loose, at their own risk. Will never happen, for obvious reasons, and maybe the kids only get a buzz when the rozzers are around!

Actually it sounds like a bunch of people have a lot less respect for the police now than when they started, so there's an argument there that they're masters of their own demise in that regard. Respect is earned and all that jazz, and turning up, expressing an interest, talking to people like human beings is a lot better than running in all "fk fkity fk fk fk" and using powers that are unreasonable to move people on.

Good police know this. st police do not. And do not care.
That works both ways though:

A large group of car enthusiasts meet up in a public car park (organised event or not), and the police turn up (be it due to being pre-aware of the event, or due to calls from concerned members of the public).

If the group are reasonable, and take the police presence in a polite, friendly, manner, keeping things light, without taking any offence to their presence, listen to the concerns that the police officers have, and work with them, then everything (more often than not) passes off without issue, and everyone has a good time.

If the group on seeing the police arrive, go straight on the offensive, giving it a Billy Big Bo//ocks attitude of : "The f@#king pigs are here!", "F@#k you cops!", "F@#king wkers!" and such like, then the police attitude is going to be very much against the group, and they will want the group to disperse and go away immediately.

In the same way, if the group are parked up quietly, or just cruising around, not causing a problem to other traffic, then the police aren't going to be too bothered.

If the group are parked up, revving their engines to the red-line, lifting-off to trigger their dump valves or over-run misfires, are doing burnouts and doughnuts, and driving like complete tw4ts around the area, then the police will respond by coming down heavy on those taking part in the meet.

I'd say that in most cases, any lack of respect for the police is already well established, long before they turn up at a car meet.

And the reality is, the police are rarely the ones in the wrong when things turn sour at a car meet.

Basically police and guy are talking st to each other.
The guy calls the police officer a pig.
Police man get's hurt feelings.
It's not exactly a term of affection, is it?

How much should Police Officers have to put up with? How many times should he be able to shout "pig" (or indeed any other term of abuse) before being arrested? After all...."sticks and stones".....
Pig is not a term to cause an officer to arrest someone.
Waste of police resources.
In the video he said pig "once" that I heard.

I have close friends from school days who view the Police as the enemy. In some cases, they actually are and apparently the breakfast is good..

You didn't answer the question. What's the official limit on how many times somebody can say "Pig" before an arrest is merited?

Locking anybody up is (technically) a waste of resources. Personally i think if somebody behaves like a dick then a quick taser to the balls is the best way of dealing with the situation for all concerned. Sadly I'm the sole voice of reason in today's PC World.

I don't believe anyone should be arrested for using the word "Pig" as an insult...................not sure on the OFFICIAL limit.. doubt such a limit exists.......

If I was a copper I wouldn't dare arrest someone for using words. Maybe if they started shouting "" at the top of their voice.......but calling me fat / ugly / pig / tt / / wker etc you HAVE to take in your stride as an officer.

Why should I stand there and put up with that? Someone calling me a tt//wker is entirely unacceptable.

Is it acceptable for someone to approach you at your work and start verbally abusing you? Would you just take it in your stride or would you think it was unreasonable and do something about it?

Why should a police officer have put up with verbal abuse as part of the job?

Exactly because its part of the job and always has been...up to a limit. A single word used should be water off a ducks back. If a member of the public complained to Police someone had called them a name - can you imagine the response theyd get? A String of expletives, especially if witnessed by others - maybe a different matter - deal with it appropriately. Theres some guidance in DPP V Orum

Clearly there is a limit and where that limit is will depend on circumstances/surroundings etc.

Context is everything - would it be water of a ducks back if someone used the single word to refer to you in front of a group of primary school kids?

xjay's suggestion that a police officer shouldn't dare to arrest someone for just using words is nonsense.

And the context within the video was that the guy who got arrested simply called the officer a pig once (may have been others but I didn't hear).
Perhaps, I didn't clarify enough. Although I gave a pretty clear example.
A couple of verbal insults should not be an arrestable offense.

As I said in my example , there are some things said and some situations which would need some action taken.

But I did qualify that by giving some examples so the blanket statement that "police shouldn't arrest anyone for verbally abusing them" isn't true.

You didn't qualify your statement, you contradicted yourself in consecutive sentences.
