Replacing Alloys

Went to change 2 tyres yesterday and had some bad news that I had 3 cracks in my alloy. They said they could weld them but I'm sure I've heard in the past this is generally a no go?
I've found some new alloys local to me with 2 new tyres on for 200, they're from a 57 A3.
They're 225,40, 18" same as mine. Would these fit straight on? And could I run into issues fitting alloys from a 57 plate?
Just a bit concerned they seem a bit too good to be true at that price..
