We will be having daily house and flat fires if these ever become legal mass transport. Such is the stupidity of the sort who would be seen dead on one, charging them up on foam mattresses and in closed cupboards and the like.

China could not wipe us out with Covid, so 200 quid nob machines is their next attempt.

I assume waterproofing will be part of the requirement. As pretty much all of the PEV fires are from people riding stuff in the wet which they shouldn't be.

Each to their own and all that, but there is no need to be a nob about it.

It’s pathetic really. I’m in Germany at the moment visiting family and e scooters are doing just fine there. Nobody has killed me with one and nobody has burst into flames or stolen my phone.

I think we need to accept one of 2 alternatives here. Either:

1). The UK is just ‘worse’ than Europe and we can’t be trusted to use common sense with these or, if that’s not true

2). Our government are a disgrace and need to just get on and allow them.

It's 2. Unless you are being racist imo.

Of course I think it’s 2, no question. I’d just be interested to see what the ban ‘em mob thinks. If everyone else can just allow them no problem, why do they have such little confidence in their fellow countrymen…?

See Poo at Paul's post. And various other posts here. Maybe they just have some strange hatred of the British public for some reason.

When in Germany, did you see any of this sort of thing though?

This is the kind of thing that undermines a lot of the arguments here and does need to be considered.

Did I see that in Germany? Has someone done it? Almost certainly.

I don’t think it undermines anything. That family are clearly mental but is that actually Britain (van looks to have a non uk plate)? Also, is that the only way that family can harm themselves? Of course not. Stupid people will always find ways to be stupid and one photo is utterly meaningless on a discussion about national legislation.

Unless you think the Brits ARE actually worse?

Genius. My point exactly, but far more succinctly put.

Odd that we can have cars full of petrol or diesel, potentially explosive gas, dangerously high voltage electricity charging batteries water floating around our houses.

Add a few electric scooters and we'll die by the billion. Clearly worse than covid.

We do seem to have a talent for doing things the hard way, and a government which believes in its own stupid statements

Seen similar dodgy behaviour in Greece and Italy, 5 on a Vespa kind of thing.
They never seemed to crash though.

Yes, but haven't you noticed the number of house/flat fires every day caused by people charging legal electric bikes...................

Back in the 70s there was a craze for seeing how many people you get in a mini, can't remember how many we managed but it was certainly into double figures!

Now I'm fairly certain that had these scooters been around then we would have been trying the same thing on them....................and I have to say, i think that the 4 in the picture is a pretty pathetic attempt.
