Go on the run before it's too late. They're probably leaving it to lull you into a sense of complacency so they can nab you when you least expect it.

Due to lack of communication between husband and wife (one thought car was booked in for service and MOT, other didn't) a friends car was 6 months out of MOT, only realised when they couldn't tax it due to no MOT.

They'd been driving it all that time, must have passed numerous plod cars and ....nothing happened!

No MOT is not an endorsable offence. Its just a fine. You would have to be stopped at the side of the road by the police in order to be fined. They do not send them out retrospectively. No MOT does not mean you are not insured, this was changed a few years ago. They may however reduce the payout for your vehicle due to the fact there is not MOT on the vehicle. There are numerous examples of this if you search online.
