Gearbox / Dealer issue
Discussion
Of all the components on my car (2017 Octavia vRS, manual) I'd say the gearbox is my least liked part.
My Mk2 and my Mk2.5 just felt a bit "notchy" when using 1st and 2nd - and the Mk3 appears no different. Not a problem as such as I did get used to it, but I've driven other cars and 1st & 2nd have felt smoother.
With reverse I've more than once had to pop it into 1st and then into reverse (which has always worked) and again, just got used to it.
I suppose I could class it as faulty - but I know the "notchy" 1st and 2nd is very much a characteristic and the reverse issue would never show itself if I took the car in under warranty.

Bit of an update,
Came to a very reasonable agreement with the manufacturer and dealer in the finish and brought home an identical car today with the addition of a DSG box.
So the moral for me is if you know your rights keep fighting as you will succeed in the end!
Thank you for the update - Makes a change to hear how a story ends!Came to a very reasonable agreement with the manufacturer and dealer in the finish and brought home an identical car today with the addition of a DSG box.

(Glad to hear they made the effort to make you a happy customer too! [eventually!] )

People still buy manual gearbox cars? Blimey.
I wonder if they also get out of their chair each time they want to change channels on their telly rather than use one of those new fangled remote controls?
Yes, because I find a manual much more enjoyable.I wonder if they also get out of their chair each time they want to change channels on their telly rather than use one of those new fangled remote controls?
DSG's just leave me cold.

I recently bought a manual gearbox car that requires the driver to double declutch when shifting between first and second gears. Why? Because the car is fun.I wonder if they also get out of their chair each time they want to change channels on their telly rather than use one of those new fangled remote controls?
OP, at first I did a double take when you said that you really like your car despite the gearbox, but then I recalled that one of the cars that I have most liked had a truly terrible gearchange. I put up with it because the car was fab in so many other ways. Anyway, I hope that you can get an improvement.

I take it you'll be travelling everywhere by e-scooter from now on, instead of that silly, old fashioned, takes some effort, walking nonsense? I wonder if they also get out of their chair each time they want to change channels on their telly rather than use one of those new fangled remote controls?
