Why not park your car further up your driveway, ie. you're still in your driveway but one end of your car is where they park?

Leave your driveway clear, let her park on it and block in? Or ringing at 3am as suggested, say a family member is ill and you need to go to them so a legitimate reason.

Park your car there instead, buy some traffic cones and put them there, big sticker on the window thats hard to get off. buy a load of cheap bike locks and lock up the front wheel every time she parks there.

Two pages of posting and no mention of going to the owners house and hammering frozen sausages into their lawn? Standards are slipping

What are they like when you speak to them? Do they seem alright or is it loads of abuse from them?

Probably because it's not funny.

More likely that we have read it being a flat courtyard, so potentially no lawn, and animals wont be digging through bricks anytime soon, better off getting a signal booster for her key, using it to open her car and placing said sausages into the seat and dashboard, before introducing a very pissed off badger into the interior of her car, she will soon learn.

A picture or detailed drawing would certainly be of assistance. esp the location of the two residences involved

This.

Plus no one has requested photos of the offender nor the OP's mum.

Had this years ago, kept a careful eye out for them leaving the car... then needed to go out midnight shopping at 2am.
They did it again 3 weeks later - shame I needed a McDonald's milkshake at 3am!

Didn't happen again since. That's your best angle of attack smile
I like this idea best

I had a similar issue whilst renting and because the neighbours knew I only had a motorbike in my garage, they felt obliged to park in front of it.
So the other half or any other visitors had nowhere to park.

I employed the local wildlife to fix my problem. Specifically birds.

Whilst bringing home some bird seed from the shops, I quite innocently and accidentally spilled some onto the car.

It only took a couple of trips before the car was moved, presumably to somewhere that had less trees..

Can't you park in the same space just blocking your own empty drive?

I've had the same problem on and off. My drive has a drop kerb and a white line painted on the road to show there is an entrance, and still you get folk parking right on the white line!

I live in a narrow busy street, and parking is tight. One families visitors in particular are the main culprit, but hasn't been as bad of late.

If I need out, I just go to their door. I keep it civil, ask them to move and each time they apologise. Apologise for being caught probably rather than the act of where they park, otherwise they wouldn't do it. There's always some sort of excuse, but I've came to the conclusion that selfishness is the main reason. And the fact people won't walk the length of themselves from a legitimate parking space. .

I don't really want a feud with the neighbours over parking, as these things can escalate and I can do without the hassle.

I had one incident with another neighbour who decided to park his van half over my drive. I left early one morning for work, and stupidly thought I could make it out the drive. In the process in trying not to hit his van, I scraped my rear door on the edge of the drive wall. I was more angry at myself for trying to get out, I went straight to his door, (which I should have done in the first place), and hammered on it until I woke him up. I told him in no uncertain terms to get it moved and not to park there again, and showed him the damage. His excuse was he couldn't find anywhere else to park when he came in late at night!

The sort of person that will willingly leave their car over someone elses drive for hours, isn't the sort of person that thinks of others unfortunately. You could involve the police if it's a persistent problem, but luckily I've always known who owns the cars in question, and can easily go to their door. After the van incident, if I'm concerned about a car even partially over the drive, I get them to move it. I shouldn't be the one inconvenienced by someone elses inconsiderate parking whilst trying to get in or out. My driveway isn't the widest at the best of times.

We have had similar problems with the entrance to our garage, it is alongside another house which is divided into flats and their parking area is also our access to the garage. Frequently, with new tenants, they block our ability to turn. We have to take round our deeds which quite clearly state that we have access AND turning rights. Once we have shown them this they normally then park with more consideration.

If they persisted after seeing our deeds I would have no hesitation in knocking on their door at 4 am in order to get them to move their car.

So to OP if you have anything in writing that states that access to your drive should be kept clear use that, if not make sure you ask them to move their car at the most inconvenient time possible. Anything between 2 am and 7 am should be good enough.

Yes, it will be painful for a night or two, but do it in a rota.

Make them move at midnight, 3 am and 5 am,

Get some mates round and make a night of it.

It will pain you for a night or two, but they won’t know when they’re going to have the door knocked - if they park the car there, they won’t sleep a wink.

And if I was to knock on their door in the middle of the night I'd tell them to move the car because you're going out in half an hour or so. That way they will have to find somewhere else to park it, as I doubt they'll want to sit up waiting for your half an hour just so they can move it a couple of feet and then put it back where it was.

So what did your mate do? Just sit there and wait?
