I have to post my licence to the Wiltshire Constabulary to be endorsed. Presumably they will then send it off to the DVLA.

Does anyone have any idea how long it might take before the licence is returned to me? Trouble is, I'm going on holiday in less than five weeks' time and need my licence for the trip.

Keep it use it on hols, and tell DVLA/police you have lost it and apply for a replacement

Hmmm...

Why do they request both the "credit card" and the green counterpart when only the counterpart gets updated? Why not just ask for the counterpart? The "credit card" is the most useful thing to me on a day-to-day basis.

Has the cc got a magnetic strip on the back where they can record points?

I'm not sure they do, I don't think that mine did and it was back with me within 2 weeks. Give um a call and ask.

No, it's just a laminated piece of card.

IIRC you will have to post your plastic and counterpart (sin sheet) to the Clerk of the Justices of the area that you were flashed. They bank your cheque, endorse the counterpart and return and they notify DVLA.

Speak to them and explain your problem re wanting Licence for holiday you may be pleasantly surprised than an accomodation may be reached and the 28 day paying in period extended.

Okay, I've spoken to them: they reckon it should take a week to get my licence back to me. I'll believe it when I see it.

Blimey! I got it back yesterday. A three-day turnaround, with a nicely hand-written endorsement.
