Im half tempted to send a link to this thread to gary.savage@daimler.com, even if the OP or their sister doesn’t want the hassle (i can understand that). The way this dealership have behaved is beyond words. The final straw for me would have been deducting the cost of the service.

Nope, not standing for that, small claims, email to the address above, copies of everything to the daily wail, post reviews on every review website going, facebook sites for MBUK and local dealership. I’d also be down the dealership with a pile of printouts containing a brief synopsis of what’s happened and how the dealership have behaved handing them out to every customer as they enter the dealership.

Having read every page of this, I share the same view as everyone else the dealer has handled themselves extremely poorly, this isn't just a small cock-up but a massive one.

I would not let my hard earned £300 be kept by the dealer there taking the Michael.

I think every contributor in this thread should send the link to this topic to gary.savage@daimler.com to highlight the poor conduct of this dealer and its employees, with the OP's consent obviously!

I don't think Gary Savage will either.

The only winner in all of this is the dealer, who have basically learned what new depths they can sink to and still get away with it.

But like most scumbags, they realise that the legal system is only there for those who can afford it.

Sounds like she is lucky to only get semi-screwed.

Things go wrong and accidents happen but I’m frankly gobsmacked the dealer would charge for a service on a car they had in their care when written off.

If I was the DP the very minimum to put right would be to source a replacement at trade price and a free service. Buying cars and servicing them is literally what they do so not exactly a stretch to sort out.

He wouldn't have time to read the thread as it is too long - you would need to put an "executive summary" of the key points in a covering email. Probably could be covered in 10 bullet points..........

I suspect that the DP - who, up until that point had played hardball with "talk to my bucket-shop, 2 Bob 'lawyers' - calling your sister to grovel about the delivery driver suggests that he knows very well that this is what could stiff him.

That’s the only reason I haven’t done it. But thanks for your concern.

Another reason is Mercedes absolutely won't give a toss. I'm a long-standing Mercedes owner and reading the marque specific threads disputes crop up from time to time - Mercedes UK (or Germany, when people try and escalate) will never get involved.

If it was me I'd be minded to go to something like the consumer help page of the Telegraph (or other newspaper that still does such a thing). WhatCar used to do it - not looked for a while but they were getting increasingly ineffective.
