I know its probably been covered many times before but can anyone let me know if I'll get pulled for using my road angel II in France?

Waiting with anticipation!

Leave it in England. Take the holder off the windscreen, don't even leave the unit in the glovebox. We were pulled on the way to Le Mans last year with just the holder on the windscreen, Road Angel in the glovebox. The Gendarmes were going to confiscate the unit and an instant fine of I think 900 Euros !! We eventually convinced him that it didn't work in France as it was GPS not a radar detector and he let us go. Very close thing in our schoolboy French.

I don't know whether you'll be pulled or not, but if you get pulled and you have a detector in the car (on or not) be prepared to pay a very heavy fine.

Does that go for all GPS route finders as well i.e. ones with fixed camera locations loaded on the software?

Having just looked at this French Scamera site,
www.radars-auto.com/cartes_radars.php
I noticed an ad at the top of the page selling a French Version of the Road Angel. I too was under the impression that they were illegal, but perhaps not. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Don't risk it, I've heard that they can even impound your car - but don't know if this is true.

I had to ring Blackspot on a different matter. They say it's pointless taking the Road Angel abroad as it won't have the database on it for the foreign country you are visiting.

Also you definitely can't use the RADAR alert.

So whilst you have a rest on holiday give the RA a rest at home.

I know that micro roadpilot is perfectly acceptable in france. the sell them there too. They only spit out their frogs legs if you have radar detector. Passive gps is fine. (plus to get an accurate speed when maxing car on lovely french autoroute!)

The downloadable database now includes Fr, B, Nl, D etc.
