Just a quick question for the great and the good that inhabit here, can scamera vans get you driving towards them and away from them? The reason being I've got a NIP through the post today (81 in a 60)but was zapped by a scamera van driving away from them. I thought (obviously wrongly!) that if they were set up for checking the speed of approaching traffic you were ok going in the other direction.

By teh way, I'm assuming I'll be collecting 3 points and a £60 fine, does this sound about right?

They wouldn't be able to get bikes otherwise.

81 (would probably have had 85 or so on your speedo) in a 60 is pushing your luck a bit. Depends on local rules - you'll probably get an offer, or they might summons you.

will be a 3 pointer, very much doubt you would be outside their fpn "limit" at that speed

Thanks all, hopefully it'll just be the 3 points then. It's a bit ironic receiving my first ever speeding fine on the eve of going to Le Mans, where of course all speed limits will be observed (and promptly ignored!)

Not necessarily, depends if you know who was driving!

I was clocked last year doing 52 in a 40 on a dual carriageway, leaving town, by a scamera on the other side of the carriageway that could only be seen once you had passed where the van was sitting. So they must have tagged my backside driving away from the van.

I was only 100 yards from the NSL, if i knew what i know now, i would have risked not signing.

They're all gonna burn in hell, along with vandals and estate agents.
