Now despite the report not being specific about her saying it, it sounds like she wanted to turn the gun in to the Police(why phone them up and say you have iit otherwise). So why so heavy handed. I do not this is the force that sent the case of the teacher with the air rifle to prosecution. Sounds like they are just wanting to prosecute "easy" cases?

No doubt they'll send someone round to shoot her.

It's pathetic.

I could understand an initial reaction of sending an armed response unit over and arresting the woman. You can't be too careful, it's similar to a bomb threat...

However, anything beyond this would be typical over-reaction, once the origin of the weapon was understood.

The cynic in me suggests since she is a gun campaigner etc. she's made a big fuss about Plod's failure to catch the people who shot her son (nephew ?), thus this is a chance to get her back.

Exactly, Manchester Police have had a very Bad reputation since the days of the Guy who got rid Of John Stalker. Looks like the Idiocy is ingrained. Unfortunate for those officers who take seriously the Police as a career.

Have they even charged the copper who kicked the crap out of a restrained man on the floor on video yet, I wonder ?

Looking at it from another direction.

Shes stashed an illegally held pump action shotgun for SIX months in a wardrobe and comes up with an excuse "I was waiting for an amnesty".

Funny that because if I was in her position and fully aware of the law regarding firearms I think I would have waited no more than 6 mins before calling the plod.

Imagine if she had been burgled, it would have been straight back in criminal hands, imagine if she had kids round playing hide & seek and one stumbled across this and blew another kid away.....

Yeah this is very odd. Let's look completely objectively here.

Why hide a gun - a completely illegal pump action shotgun - for six months in your house? If someone handed that in to me, I would have been straight onto the police. That's if I'd have even accepted it.

Why only decide to tell the police when you have rung them to report some other crime ?

Wouldn't be surprised to see this one in court, given what she's admitted.

Yep, even though it makes nonsense, and makes the law look like a fool, if the CPS and police can get a prosecution, they will fall blubbering over themselves to do it. After all its easier than trying to prosecute real criminals.

Probably not enough evidence
