Numpties who accelerate when you pull along side to overtake them, then slow down when you try and pull back in behind them?

In a similar catagory but less dangerus people who move to block you from overtaking by pulling to the middle of the road.

What would you happy band of BIB do?

p.s. I wish to state categorically I do not own a gun (or any other device capable of launching any sort of projectile), do not know any one who owns one, nor anyone who has access to any such device.

Also even if I was unlikely as it is, have any access to such device or devices would I never use one, take possession of one or handle one.

If in the unlikely event did find such a device I would not touch the item, but immediately call the police and stand guard over it with small stick (padded to avoid any possible accident) until the police arrived.

no its not legal but it should be.

Ive been driving cars a hell of a lot more powerful than my daily hack (the punto), eg honda crv-s mini coopers, mazda mx-5's, and a few people have tried this trick with me, generally 40 in a 60 merchants (who are also 40 in a 30 merchants).

I generally carry on with my overtake and if they carry on with their high jinks I indicate to pull in left and make this known by pulling the car in a bit. I dont let the red mist get to me, but ill be buggered if ill let them be the cause of a head on - the choice of broadsiding a nobber and having a head-on aint no choice at all.

Poor fella...

Seriously though, they could do with been taught a lesson. I'd never dream of doing that, as it is so dangerous. One of THE most dangerous things to do on the road infact, especially as a 3rd party just p1ssing other people off!

Need a faster car and it becomes less of a problem. Main reason I went for a quicker motor, so you can nip past em quick like. The more understated the car you own, the easier it is to do it!

Such people steal air. I feel your pain. Until I could afford a seriously fst car they riled me. Now they don't have a hope of blocking me (I am not an aggressive driver by the way).

Agreed, it's exasperating, but not so much of a problem when you have a car that's faster than most. That's the only real solution, and it's very cathartic blasting past someone who is obviously trying to out-drag you, thanks to the tell-tale cloud of black smoke pouring from the back of their astra van.

Edited to add: reminds me of something that happened to my girlfriend in her MX-5 last week, she was alongside a lorry on the motorway, her in lane two. She needed to get into lane one to take the sliproad off but the lorry sped up to block her, then slowed down, again and again until she missed her turn-off! (Ok ok I know, quite how a lorry out-dragged a nimble little sports car I don't know, but there you have it...)

A couple of years ago I was deciding what toy to buy next. It was either a Chimera or a 911. I finally decided because of congestion and basically it's no fun being stuck in traffic, so bought a fast bike. I've never regretted it. The times I've blasted past TVRs& 911s because they are bogged down in 50mph convoys - well I've lost count. I still get numpties trying to out drag me etc but I'm usually past them before they know what's going on.

Not exactly having the fastest car on the block, I usually back off a bit, then use the few hundred feet between my car and the vehicle in front of me to build up speed, then blow around the person before they know what's happening.

But I do anticipate getting arrested for shooting another driver some day...
