Thought it would be interesting to get a real world idea of figures relating to 'random' traffic stops.
This is to cover your entire driving life.
if we split BAME and NON BAME incidents then, imo, we can see just how disproportionate it might be.
where i have put 'for good reason' i would expect you to be honest, like; you're in a modified car, you have dodgy number plates, you were driving like a cock, you're young and have a nice car etc - like it or not these are factors that would increase your chances of being tugged.
i would have liked to gather more metrics such as age and if the stop was pleasant etc but the poll won't allow me to do funky things.
Hope no one takes offence to this, with so much fake news around i thought it would give a good indication as to what is actually happening out there.
thank you.

Once on a Lambretta aged 17 - forgot to switch lights on in a well lit area. (They didnt spot the duff tyre covered by the back mudflap) Apart from that - not a touch since getting my car licence in 1974, driving to and from work at all hours on some very noisy air cooled RD Yamahas

I think you have just very graphically emphasized the phase 'Lies, Dam Lies and stastics'
Without knowing how long the person has been driving the poll is completely meaningless.
Which is better (or worse)? Someone who has been pulled over 2 times or someone who's been pulled over 20 times?
What if the person who's been pulled over twice has only been driving for 2 weeks - therefore an average stop of once a week.
What if the person who's been pulled over 20 times has been driving 60 years - therefore an average stop of once every 3 years.
I'm sorry but what ever you're trying to prove won't be done this way.

with the limited tech we have here this is the best i can do, sorry.Without knowing how long the person has been driving the poll is completely meaningless.

5 times in 46 years on the road:
First time, no insurance in a car as a teenager. No points, as it was over a year before it went to court. Big fine though.
Speeding on a motorbike, pulled by a bike copper, got a telling-off.
Overtook a lorry, police car in front of it. Got done for crossing a solid white line as I pulled back in, despite the fact that I pulled back in before the line started. 3 points. I was driving a Reliant Robin.
A late night "drink-drive" checkpoint. I was on my way home from work, and hadn't been drinking, so no problems.
Last time was a case of "mistaken identity", as a chap from up north with the exact same name and date of birth was a disqualified driver. They actually sat outside my house, and followed me to work on a Saturday morning. Took 15 minutes to convince them it wasn't me.

I've been pulled over somewhere between 5 and 10 times over the last 20 years driving, once for speeding but the other times was simply because I was on deserted roads either late at night or very early morning, I sometimes am out at those times due to work. Don't have a problem with it to be honest, on each occasion they have simply asked me to confirm who I am, I guess as the registered keeper and they ask me where I'm going, I simply tell them I'm either going to work or home and I get left alone.
I don't have an issue with it, especially as I had a car stolen off my drive in the past, shame it didn't get stopped that night but it's just pot luck I guess.

I was going to say 'you haven't included "None" as an option', but then I remember I was late for work once and was driving rather quickly when I was pulled over by the Chief Constable of Gwent in his unmarked Jag. I guess he couldn't book me as he had no VASCAR or whatever, but he gave me a bking which was fair enough.
Over 100 times in the early 90's including 3 7day producers in just one day!
No faults with vehicles, no offences committed and have never had any points.
It came to a head when I was asked to step out my vehicle and was then pushed twice on the shoulder stopping the third push by pushing his arm aside and being threatened with arrest for assault until two passing middle aged ladies approached telling him they had seen and heard it all before offering themselves as witnesses for me.
. Strangely after I approached a solicitor with a full list of events and suggested I would like to take them to court for harassment I was never pulled over again!.
My vehicle was heavily modified, but legal.

Nearly 50-years and less than 5 - none without reasonable cause.
But as we saw with Brexit, PH is hardly representative of society as a whole.
I guess if the question was framed in terms of Stop-&-Search in the London Metropolitan area for males under 25, then a different story might be revealed.
But then the Police are dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. If you know that knife crime is taking place within a small section of society, it’s a waste of resources to randomly stope everyone.
Rather like if an airport is trying to prevent a suicide bomber, it is a probable waste of resources stopping white women over 50-years old.
Racial profiling is likely to be an inevitable consequence of Policing. It harks back to Tony Blair’s promise to be “tough on crime; tough on the causes of crime”. Nothing changed.

As a ninteen year old in my beige Nissan Sunny estate, almost weekly, always with a producer. Replaced that with a modified XR3, with a big 38DGAS carb and Janspeed exhaust, no problem.
Got a job as a sound engineer, so driving mainly rough looking vans around at all sorts of night times, we were stopped a time or two. The biggest let off was one night in Sheffield, I had been working at the City Hall, we had set up a PA system for an Andy Kershaw world music event, no bands, just a few DJs, including the man himself. Having no bands to look after, and being cooped up in the venue from four in the afternoon until one the following morning I had been a bit liberal with Andy's rider, and while not falling down drunk, I was well over the limit.
On our way home, we were pulled on the outskirts of the city, with a demand to know what was in the back of the van. I told them that it was a load of electrical and sound equipment, which peaked their interest, as that was what they were looking for after a ram raid at a hifi shop. Obviously a load of massive speakers and flightcases soon put them off when they had a look. The copper turned to me and said "We haven't got a breath tester in the car, but we can tell that you have had a drink, thanks for your help, and take it steady on the way home." and sent me on my way. I never risked drink driving again.
