Is it because you’re invisible ?
If I were invisible the last thing I'd be doing would be contravening speed cameras... I'd be up to no good, trust me! <grin>

I know if you have multiple licences (eg car and motorcycle), you lose them all but regain them on passing one test.

Can he use this as an excuse to take a bike test and get his car licence back at the same time? Every cloud and all that. It might even be quicker. Trading a bike might help him appreciate things on the road a bit more.
You only have one licence, you can have multiple entitlements on a single licence. I doubt taking a motorcycle test would get him the car entitlement back.

You need only pass a 'relevant test' to get back a licence which was revoked under the New Driver's legislation.

That means passing a bike test would see all of your previous entitlements renewed, car included.

Test tomorrow. As lessons go, this has been a tough one for him...

When I was a young and foolish 18 year old I got stopped doing 111mph on the M74 in Dumfries.

Went to court, 0 points, £200 fine and 3 months ban.
Well, you got enough points to get banned didn’t you ?

It's ban or points with one offence, not both.
A disqualification through totting is something different.

Here endeth this thread with a pass.

The boy is happy.

And his pass rate much improved at an average of 4 attempts per license smile

Effectively a ten month ban and a lot of expense for the new testing (and presumably some lessons to recap). Ouch.

Thank you surveyor for keeping this thread updated. Knowing how a story ends is so satisfying.

Let's hope idiot boy actually learned a lesson.

Now he's got his licence back, presumably he's also back in the "no more than 6 points in 2 years" chair?

Should be interesting.

Nope, only applies to the first time you pass your test

I’m feeling benevolent tonight. Although he did an idiot thing he is actually a thoughtful caring and considerate person and making a decent go at life. I should give home more credit.

Nice to hear he can’t land back in the same position, although i don’t think I will tell him that!

But the points gained during the probationary period (leading to the licence revocation) remain in force for the 3 years (from date of offence) totting period despite the second test pass. They are not removed by the licence revocation.

As said above his licence can only be revoked once, so he's now in the same boat as everyone else But needs to be careful as vonhsen says, the points that triggered the revocation are now on his licence and valid for 3 years, so get 6 more and no revocation. but a 6 month totting ban instead which has the potential to put him off the road for longer
