They are stting themselves about this new variant virus. The science can’t keep up with it, so they are going down the nuclear route, just in case. From what I’ve been told ( but can’t be used widely, quite rightly, because of protocol) is that it’s practically a new virus, and it’s going to be a ‘back to the drawing board’ job.

Yeah, but the truth will out, it matters not a jot about a post on a random motoring forum. I really hope that I’m wrong, that what I’ve been told is way wide of the mark, because when push comes to shove, this really isn’t something we want to be bang on. We are fighting nature in a way that hasn’t been seen for over a hundred years, it’s a really bad situation, and it sucks, but we are just reacting to nature ultimately.

Yeah, pop it back in, and keep them in the fridge in future, I’m reliably informed that it helps.

No that wasn’t me. I don’t snitch like that, it’s behaviour.

So basically this evenings presser was a lie when Boris, Valance and Whitty all said it doesn't affect vaccines or lethality, a line that Sturgeon also repeated?

oh and they didn't find this strain back in September and didn't have enough samples from WC 18 nov to compare against WC 9th dec, showing a increase in prevalence from 28% to 62%. So basically isn't a new strain its a oldish strain that out competes other strains becoming dominant in areas where it is present. The newness being its dominance not time of discovery.
They can’t make statements, the virus is moving way ahead of the science. They’re erring on the side of caution, even though they know what information is being fed to them. That’s how it works. You can have a hypothesis. You can have things told to you, in good faith, it takes time to prove it, the virus moves more quickly than the good science allows. This is the conundrum. What they ‘know’ and what they can prove, are at odds. Let’s hope what they know is wide of the mark, because it is absolutely not what we want to be the case. Internet point scoring is balls, if this is as bad as we believe, it’s really not a good thing, and “Nur nur nee nur nur, I told you so” is not a good thing. These are actual lives we’re dealing with.

Thanks for sharing. This mutation still doesn’t warrant additional restrictions because it’s obvious to anyone except a blind and deaf muppet, that lockdowns do nothing other then perhaps, but not recently, delay the spread of the virus and as soon as it’s lifted, off we go again. The virus is here to stay. Additionally, lockdowns remain against WHO advice for such situations. Never mind the economic and non-Covid health costs! I’ve been saying for months, it’s
madness!
Everything you say is madness.

Getting back to COVID piss takers for a moment. I was having lunch at a ‘spoons, today. As I walked in, a guy was doing his crunch because he was asked to sign in ( either NHS app or paper form ) he was going right off his nut at the poor sod just doing his job, he was eventually asked to leave by the manager. Then it all calmed down, I did as I was asked, sat down, had my lunch, then got up to leave, wearing my face mask properly. Cue some total arse of a woman walking right up to me as I tried to leave, with her mask around her fking neck. I did ask her why she wasn’t wearing it properly, she replied “at least I’ve got one” WTAF banghead

How do the mask wearers cope with being in proximity from mask-exempt people?

Does it worry you that they might not be, you know, really exempt?

A bit like those people who use disabled bays but don't walk with a limp.

Presumably, someone with a mask around their neck / on top of their head / worn in a Borat Mask-kini style, isn’t exempt, just a complete nugget. If someone has a genuine exemption, they are more than likely not going to be risking going into places where they’ll mix with people very often, so they are mostly self regulating, in my experience thus far.

The pubs / restaurants I’ve been in are well enough controlled to mean that any risk is reduced as far as possible, there’s still a risk, but I feel more comfortable in a pub / restaurant where the set up has been made as safe as possible, than I do in most supermarkets / shopping centres etc. I’m not going to hide behind my sofa ‘till this blows over, but I’d rather not have some turd increase the small risk, by not doing something as simple as putting a face covering on properly. I wasn’t rude about it, I just asked a question.

Genuine Question:

My recently moved in next-door neighbours (mid 20s couple) are having gatherings on the weekend with their friends, last Saturday was the third in about a month and a half. (we are in Tier 3). They aren't being discreet about it, are obviously going inside (the sound leakage through my party wall is crazy, but thats another story), and aren't being silent when they leave (loud pissed chats for a while outside before saying BYEEEEEEEEE) etc. First time I kindly suggested that they were loud and that they should quieten it down, but I don't think either of them are the sharpest tools on the block. (Think towie / love island types that appear to have designer everything and a base-spec white Audi A3, quite the generalisation, but hey).

Should I report this? Can I do this anonymously at the least? I am concerned that this is a slippery slope and I'd have to divulge it during conveyancing if we ever moved (i.e. have you ever had a dispute with your neighbours).

Put a post about it on the local Facebook group.
But seriously, speak to them, then report it as a repeated blatant breach. The plod round my way won’t be too concerned unless it’s large, or repeated.

I had a funny old situation today. I currently reside in a tier 4 area. The current government diktats require you to pretty much stay at your primary abode, unless you’re partaking of a select few activities , which means you don’t have to. I was doing one of them ( conveying my self on my trusty velocipede ). I became acutely aware that I was being followed closely by a motor vehicle of some description, so I glanced round. Said motorised vehicular conveyance proceeded to pull along side me, and the chap in control started to berate me for having the audacity to ride my bicycle on the public highway, rather than the shared path to my right. “I say old bean, that’s not terribly charitable of you, now is it”? ( or words to that effect ) Says I. He continued with his little tirade, at which point I reminded him that we are currently residing in a tier four area, and I enquired as to what his excuse for being away from his abode might be. He didn’t answer, then proceeded to drive off in a frightful manner. Where are the constabulary when they are required?

The Coof is the truth. It is a simple virus, no matter what people say they are or are not doing, the numbers tell you all you need to know. If lots of people want to take the piss and ignore the lockdown rules, whether they admit it or not, the numbers tell the true story.
