If it's the same as south of the border, drink driving carries a minimum 12 months disqual.

It depends on circs though, How much over the limit, was it an RTC, was he to blame, is it his first DD offence. These aggravating factors can increase the disqual period.

2nd offence, minimum 3 years disqual.

He can elect to take a course which will allow him to lose one week per month of his ban.

HM forces should make no difference other than his ability to do his job might be impaired.

All E&W I'm afraid. Presume it would not be too different in Scotand.

AFAIK:

Drove to the pub, and having had a bout 5/6 pints, decided to leave the car, get a taxi back, sleep it off and then go get the car.

however, he claims he didnt sleep as long as he thought he did, went to get the car, and was collared on a random stop by the BiB.

dont know his 'score' on the breathalyser, but something about his story dosnt add up.

oh yea, he's not a pilot though. he builds bombs.
whats E&W

you need to tell your mate to drop the bullshit, confess all, look contrite and above all dress smartly and speak for himself in court!

magistrates in england tend to get bored with seeing solicitors speaking for clients day in day out!

i was breathalysed for crossing a road and failed, it was real bad luck but such is life, poke the beehive enough and eventually a bastard will nip out and sting you!

speaking to a retired traffic policeman years later, he said the best things in my favour were, the speaking for myself in court and the fact that i was not actively driving on the road and just crossing one,

still got banned but according to mags sentencing guide it was half what it should have been and the fine was £200
