interesting.

Mr policeman who is not interested in ANYONE driving bellow 90MPH.
He clocked a beetle doing 82.odd to which he replied 'not fast enough'. Good stuff I though, and sensible.
The other thing that stuck out was the girl with a car festooned with speed camera signs, who is campagning for slower (and therefore safer) driving. She smacked the kerb once very hard, and then took he rdaughter out for a very hazardous driving lesson, as she wanted to teach her how to drive safely. - my god!!!!

I saw that programme and it was a pretty dismal display of driver attitudes, much worse that I seem to experience when I'm out and about, though the in-car videos put a different slant on things.

In a way I suppose PC Tim Scothern was being quite lenient on the speed front, but I've criticised him quite a bit in another forum for his attitude to 90+ mph drivers, relative to what I think were dangerous examples of his own driving as seen on Traffic Cops.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Yes, the numptyess was hysterically awful. I think she's driving too fast even when stationary.

Bet Plod'll be getting a bollocking when today though..... "come on now, son, you're not supposed to be sensible and intelligent, won't do at all."

Hey guys. I saw it as well. (called Car Nation by the way, lol)

That PC with the 90+mph attitude....was anyone else suprised, that when we first saw him, he was sat in a UNMARKED police car on the entering slip road to a dual carriageway clocking ppl going on the carriageway. - erm...wot happened to visible polcing?!

I was disgusted by that cabby as well. He had a v aggressive attitude. We all know about the issues surrounding speed right now, but its ppl like him (the aggresive, tailgator) who give ammo to the police to say to raising the speed limit.

Also the woman with the speed camera stickers....She is a very worried driver, scared by anything it seems. To me that seems to be very dangerous!

Still a good programme. B tuning in nxt wk!

The thing that I noticed most about the program was that it's funny how easy it is to see faults in others while completly ignoring your own shortcomings.

With that in mind I've given a few opinions on the people invoved.

Brother and sister Polo.
Displaying the confidence/arrogance of youth.

Ferrari shi(r)t taxi man.
Complete loon. Should calm down a bit and be a bit more tolerant of others mistakes, after all he made loads.

Mumpty three kids
General school run type. Distracted despite her claims to the opposite.

Scaredy, scardey speed cam sticker woman
So nervous as to be a complete danger. realy ought to consider retraining to get some confidence. As for teaching her daughter to drive, I think she ought to pay for lessons. My favorite bit was the speed camera sticker she'd designed to show that she would never break the speed limit 'I think it's the best idea I've ever come up with'. I think you're right luv. i bet it is.

I love cars Mr Astra man
A bit forgetful and disorganised but seemed ok driving

Scaffolding man
Phone glued to the ear. Really hated his taste in vehicles.

MG rep man
Bit of a wally but seemed like an OK driver.

Mr Gold
Complaining about the Police stopping him all the time. FFS you drive a gold Range Rover. To me this just screams drug dealer. Felt geninely sorry about him having his BMW keyed though.

Mini woman
Seemjed competant apart from the looking for the mobile phone incident and swerving all over the road.

In conclusion the most dangerous out the lot were Speed Cam woman followed closely by taxi man.

Oh I nearly forgot Astra mans elderly father!

Astra man says 'Hes a man with precision driving standards, when he gets to the age when he cant match those standards he'll give up driving'.

Thirty second later dear ol' dad pulls out of his garage and mounts the pavement on the other side of the road

The plod did seem to be the most sensible person on the show. Unusual but good.

The utter arrogance of 'mad speed camera woman' was unbelievable! When will some people learn NOT to give driving lessons, and leave it to professionals? All she was doing was passing on her own bad habits and mistakes. She was a very bad driver...

Ah yes, in particular the pedestrian crossing the road, and the passing the parked car examples.

In both cases they went sailing into the situation showing no sign of taking any action to deal with them properly, and then it all just seemed a big joke to them. Genuine and intelligent concern for safety? It didn't look like it to me.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I had a slightly different take on this and thought it was worth introducing p&p to sptl residents

What about the guy who took great pride in his driving, was he the Astra man?

"I choose a speed to drive at, and I stick at that speed for a bit, then after a while, I decide what speed to drive at again, and then stick to it"

What?

If thats not the most bizzare and random comment as to drive well I don't know what is.

As per the woman, my god. She really is the perfect example of why no confidence is just as bad as too much confidence. She had no bloody idea!

This program really showed why re-tests or at least safety assesments every few years would be a good idea.

Everyone on the program thought they were good drivers, but many had just evolved into anything but good drivers!
It would be good to have a non-biased accurate appraisal now and again, and if your truly getting bad, perhaps a re-test which you must pass but can still drive until you do or summin?
