That's there to catch the terrorist suicide bomber who is attempting to blow up the G8 committee.

Hey at least everyone at the summit is safe from speeding drivers - the only cause of any accident in the world

It's a bugger unless you know it - you come up the hill and round the bend and there it is!

In fairness, it's a decent location. I used to live 10 mins from that very camera and it's location is well known. Just after the camera is a junction that allows traffic to cross the A9 (dual carriageway) onto the other side of the road. God knows how many people met their maker at that junction as the A9 is a (generally) quiet road there, with a shallow gradient going downhill. The camera has helped to keep people to the 70mph limit.

It's one of the few locations where I applaud the placement.

I don't know the place in question, but surely it would be more effective if it wasn't hidden behind the sign?

If it's the one I'm thinking of (and it can't be any other) then it's not hidden behind a sign. It cerainly used to be, but was moved into the open a few years back.

If it was hidden behind a sign, then how could it be seen on a news broadcast?

the camera was taking a picture from across the road (panorama-style) - if you were driving straight up the road it would appear to be hidden behind the sign for the gleneagles turnoff...

I just thought it was amusing!
