Ok i have swapped my reg from one car to another but left the old plate on the old car as it is listed as sorn and has no tax - is this ok, or have i got to get new plates made up for a car that hasn't moved for about a year? it is parked off road. cheers :)

By the sound of it it looks from your post that you have just swopped VRM off one car to another without going through DVLA?

If you do so, on cherish transfer, they will allocate an age related VRM to the doner vehicle if all criteria met.

Go to

www.dvla.co.uk

> vehicles
scroll down to cherish number section.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I have transferred my reg via DVLA from my SORN car to my taxed and insured car, but I have just left the actual plate itself on the SORN car as it has no tax and is physically off the road. I have got a new reg number for it, but do I need to display it even if vehicle is SORN?

Cheers!

I would think there is no obligation for your car to comply with any road traffic act if it's not on the road , with the exception of fulfilling the sorn requirements of course. Just a guess though

No need to display a VRM other than on a road repairable at public expense.

However to be safe I suggest you consider puting the re allocated number where it belongs and sending a SORN in on that number. Paper work should then be correct.
