Incorrect number plate spacing?

I’ve never been sure why people hide their registration numbers online but drive the car round with it on full display to the whole world. There must be a reason but not sure what it is so at the risk of finding out the hard way but to put the thread into context this is what i’ve bought.

Not sure how accurate this is, but I’ve heard ANPR cameras will be issuing fines to mis-spaced number plates at some point soon.
There’s a certain irony to this. Either the spacing creates a problem with legibility... or an ANPR camera can read it and send you a fine!Aside from that it will make you look like a twit.

Just do it! It'll make you feel amazing, and you'll wonder why you never did it earlier in life.
I mis-spaced my front plate about 2 years ago, then this year I decided to do the rear as well.
It's amazing.
This didn't get the attention it deserved.I mis-spaced my front plate about 2 years ago, then this year I decided to do the rear as well.

Have one of these, sir.
I don't have an issue with private plates but the spacing and making them appear to read different does.
The entire principle of a registration plate is to identify the vehicle.
How would you feel if a family member was knocked down and a witness missread the plate because it was difficult to read or missrepresented.
Or your car was stolen and get annoyed that the police can't find it, if the ANPR cameras could read it then perhaps they could.
I appreciate the above are a bit extreme but it's a simple reality. By all means stick a private plate on, but not an illegal one.

Correct font everything
But just miss spaced
VX XXXX instead of
VXX XXX
£100 fine
Darkest Dimchurch at 22.30 board coppers...
Yep, been there done that, got the t-shirt, (well the fine anyway!)Correct font everything
But just miss spaced
VX XXXX instead of

The correct plate was M30 AVE
I had it displayed as M3 0AVE. Because the car was an M3 and my name was Dave!
The 0 had not been turned into a D in any way shape or form, merely just moved along a bit
OK so that wasn't the plate I had but the principal is exactly the same, I had an '0' I just moved 1 space to the right to imply a four letter name beginning with D!!
Been using it for about 10 years on several different cars before meeting a very bored (and patronizing) cop. Still use the reg to this day but it is now displayed correctly!
