Until they slow down again below the speed limit. My van has a hard 70mph limiter. Trying to overtake cars cruising at 65mph in the centre lane but playing this accelerate/decelerate game, becomes a nightmare. Happened twice last night on motorways.

Welcome to the future...
Dive up behind in L2. Full beam for 4 seconds. Pass when they pull in to L1
Doesn't stop them accelerating back to 70 mph and pulling out when they catch the next lorry in Lane 1. Then the deceleration/acceleration cycle starts all over again.

Bottom line is that however frustrating these extreme lorry "overtaking" manoeuvres can be, our legislators (aka rulers and masters) are only going to make matters worse hehe

I have no problem with my car being limited to the legal speed limit. All it will do is prevent me from speeding. But it does seem rather inconsiderate for lorries to overtake each other at such comparably low speeds.
So how would you cope with someone who accelerates to 70mph when you are overtaking them on a motorway, or to 60mph on a single carriageway road? Would you be happy to just fall in behind them? Or sit beside them causing a road block? scratchchin
Fall in behind as the overtake would no longer be necessary or legally possible.

You mean welcome to misery. laugh

I briefly drove a Sprinter for a supermarket chain that had a 56 mph limiter and it was hateful!

But my current cars have 155 mph limiters, so just give it the beans - allowing for cameras like the average speed ones on the M3 where I live by J4. mad

What about when the lorry doing 56mph is overtaking a car doing 55mph on a dual carriageway or motorway. Whose in 'the wrong' then? The lorry for doing his maximum speed or the car driver who is driving 15mph below the speed limit?

It happens a lot more than you think.

What happens far more is that the fool speeds up, the HGV pulls back in and then the fool speeds down again. There are a lot of things that car drivers do in ignorance, including the majority of PH members no doubt, that would earn them a punch in the mouth if the HGV drivers could get to them.

Powerfully built directors too, because fat scrubbers in Mitsubishi pickups are some of the worst...
