Yep it’s an assault.

Chances are the supermarket won’t give you the CCTV. You’ll have to report it to the police and they’ll be able to request it for any investigation.

And what kind of weirdo twists a stranger's nipple? Jesus, there are some odd people. I'm absolutely no hard man, quite the opposite, but I'd have smacked him in the mouth.

You just let someone walk up, give you a titty twister and you did nothing?

rofl

That would be an accurate summary.

I'm sat here giggling away wondering how amusing the CCTV footage could be.

OP - for god sake just be more observant in the future and get on with life.

No Glasgow kiss in return?
I can understand it must’ve been surprising but even though, a kick in the nads would’ve been my response. The cheeky fecker.

I was wearing a t-shirt which was fairly thin, and it was a bit cold, so my nipples probably were puckered and stood out from underneath my t-shirt
Puckered you say.... Thin t shirt you say... Just how thin? .... Were you glistening with sweat?

What else were you wearing... [pant]... what did he do next... Keep going dammit.

This is just plain weird, did no one in the queue think it odd, of course you've been assaulted.
Very rarely have I seen or experienced where hands go on quickly without some comment or preamble.
You need to report it as anyone who does that in a supermarket doesn't care less and imagine what they'd do if no witnesses or cameras

It does sound weird (and how many adults would use that as an attack?), but most people -as few of us are used to physical conflict in daily life- would be too shocked to react. The assailant knows this and used it effectively. With respect, I'm guessing that the victim didn't look like a hardened street brawler. They probably wouldn't have done it to a scaffolder with a scar on his face on his way home from work.

People in sometimes tense public-facing roles such as Police, bouncer/security, paramedic or who play full contact sports may react differently.

This ^ You'll likely have to report it and they'll give CCTV directly to the police, though the odds of successfully pursuing anything like this are pretty slim - Not because it isn't a crime but because it's going to be so low down on the priority list that it'll likely result in a crime number and no further action, unfortunately.

Whilst GDPR gives you the right to request any CCTV footage in which you feature, it also allows the owner of the CCTV to refuse if there are other people within the footage and/or they're unable to edit those people out.

As for the individual above stating people are laughing at you, only idiots would be laughing at you. Yes it's weird, yes you should've done something there and then... however, I think it's fair to say the majority of people avoid confrontation and would also have been taking a moment to process what just happened. Sorry to hear you had a c****y run in with an idiot.

Could the whole thing have been avoided if you just showed them a receipt?
