They also seem to need many more lessons. I passed after about 25 hours of lessons mainly in one hour slots. My kids have had double or treble that in 2 hour slots, and that seems to be quite normal!
More traffic probably so they don't do very much driving in an hour?

Worth trying testi. My daughter's original test date, booked about a month ago, was in late November... we've brought it forward twice and now it's the middle of September. This morning the testi app offered three cancellation appointments for next week...

Did a bit more research over the weekend.
It appears that DVSA will only let you book up to 24 weeks in advance, and open up appointments each week.
6am this morning managed to book my daughter a test for Friday 14th Jan, as the week starting 10th Jan became available.

Talk about added pressure to pass.
Well she did it, yesterday she passed with 2 minors.

Unfortunately her boyfriend failed last week and is looking to rebook his test. He lives on the outskirts of London/Surrey borders and closest he can currently find with a reasonable wait is in Portsmouth, about 60 miles away, so it doesn’t look like the situation has improved in the last 6 months.

He’s signed up to a couple of the cancellation apps and is keeping his fingers crossed.

Edited for spelling.

Congrats. It really gives them their independence when they can drive.

My son failed his December on a single mistake. Fortunately the cancellation app has managed to get him another test in February. He's a relatively experienced driver now so really should sail through.
