Having volunteered at a vaccination centre earlier in the year the anti mask lot were the unhealthiest looking bunch. Most of them with huge bellies and fagging away virtually up to the door before quoting some rubbish off Facebook.
I hate wearing them as much as anyone else but I also know how uncomfortable it can make other people, it's not all about me.
If we don’t stand up to some of these daft rules they’ll be with us forever.I hate wearing them as much as anyone else but I also know how uncomfortable it can make other people, it's not all about me.

I was in ikea today and once inside certainly most people either had taken it off or were wearing it under their nose / chin etc.
It’s utterly pointless.
Most people? It’s utterly pointless.
Countless people on PH keep saying in these threads that nobody is wearing masks where they go. Yet everywhere I've been seeing someone without a mask is extremely rare.
I think a lot of people are trying too hard to convince people it's ok not to wear one.

If I only ever wore the scratchy and funky-smelling blue paper disposable masks, I'd never want to wear one either.
Treat yourself to a good cotton one and they're as comfortable as anything. It's only when you're having a long conversation that you even notice it and even then it's not the end of the world.
It's generally the blue-disposable-mask wearing types who are more likely to wear it as a chin strap or have it somewhere below their nose anyway.

The lone anti-vax dad at my kids' school - who refused to go masked to collect his son (because conspiracy/WEF/control etc) so has to stand outside the school gates - is pasty and obese, and is regularly pictured on Facebook scoffing KFC or 'checking into' McDonalds. Blathers on about the vaccine and how he's not taking it. Oh and he also has quite bad asthma.I hate wearing them as much as anyone else but I also know how uncomfortable it can make other people, it's not all about me.
How much it reduces spread is anyone's guess, but history has so far not shown - "not very much".....

Everyone else who has been wearing a mask has been making more effort than fatso to try to reduce the rate at which the disease spreads. Fair statement?
Not really - how do you know he's not been giving everyone lots of space? Most people abandoned social distancing the moment masks wearing was mandated. I don't wear a mask and I notice I give people much more space in supermarkets. Perhaps he also does the same? Perhaps he spends more time outdoors away from everyone than you do? Perhaps he has his shopping delivered online only? He could actually be making much more of an effort than lots of other people. What's being fat got anything to do with it, other than being judgemental. And if you don't believe that mask wearing is making a significant difference, then you are not making any less effort not wearing one, you just have a different opinion. Because you are convinced, doesn't mean someone who is not is not making an effort. They just don't agree with you what making an effort is.
I think calling him "fatso" - doesn't help your credibility.

Give it a break. No one in here needs any credibility when it comes to masks, it's the law. Fortunately even when we disagree with the law most people do the right thing and follow it, it's the foundations of a civilised society.
The laws have been ambiguous at best. There was a time when the government intimated that we couldn’t travel between zones when they were a thing. There was never such a law. Then apparently they said we could hug again but that’s never been illegal.School kids don’t wear masks anymore, (quite rightly, they never should have had to imo), why is that? If masks actually did anything they should have to wear them, the fact they don’t means no one should have to wear them.
It’s just an example that masks are quite literally pointless.

Masks allow politicians to say that they’re taking action even though it’s pointless. It’s just an example that masks are quite literally pointless.
Oh and Betty Blue Rinse may feel safer.

Do me a favour!PistonHeads is shot through with constant examples of people trying to wriggle out of their responsibilities under the law, like the word 'Blackpool' in a stick of rock.
"Boo-hoo. I'm being 'persecuted' for ignoring the speed limit. How can I get off the charge despite being bang-to-rights guilty of an absolute offence?" And countless other crap.
Now, all of a sudden, "the law" and "the rules" are of paramount importance, and we must all bow down before our leaders and obey their every last utterance.
"Foundations of a civilised society" my hairy butt-cheeks... How do you work that out? I've had nothing but hassle on the roads lately. Mainly with law-breaking Muppets completely ignoring Statutory Signs and road markings, pulling out of junctions and blocking the road, forming little convoys so that they get away with not giving way at Defined Priority Width Restrictions. I even had one woman take a photo of ME because I had the brass neck to stop her charging through under a narrow railway bridge when the FAT WHITE ARROW was on MY side, and the GIVE WAY instruction was on hers. DESPITE me sounding my horn at the FOUR preceding cars who'd all ignored a simple STATUTORY instruction. But hey, road safety laws are just a "cash cow" there to "persecute" "innocent" motorists eh? Whereas mask-wearing laws, based on nothing but guesswork about efficacy, are really, really, really important and WILL save COUNTLESS THOUSANDS of lives. If you believe the flawed modelling coming out of Downing Street, at least.
After those pictures at the G7 barbecue, I'm disinclined to further acquiesce to any more Boris Bullst. I am now fully convinced that very little of the action that our Glorious Leader has taken has had a direct effect on reducing infections. I strongly suspect that this is just the natural ebb and flow of a virus, doing the things that viruses do.
Masks? Probably about as useful as jamming pencils up our noses and wearing our underpants on our heads. At least that way we'd probably get a lot more (anti)social distance afforded to us when out and about...
Wibble!
